Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaNothing ! But just for information : expect a steep hill to reach the accommodation (remember Cinque Terre = steps !) and my room was on the fourth floor.
Such a nice experience at Il Bordone ! I really appreciated my stay. Communication was easy with Giovanni (Grazie Giovanni!) and the room (for 1 person) was exactly as pictured. I felt very safe at this accommodation and I really enjoyed the location. A plus : nice view from the room ! *no need for AC in May, but it is available

AustraliaNothing.
The accommodation had been beautiful renovated. The bed and pillows were so comfortable with lovely bedding. We were on the ground floor with a balcony with views of the mountain. We were very happy with this as we felt very private there. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would love to come back and stay there again one day!

Giovanni is super kind and responsive. He gave us all sorts of information. The bed is very comfortable. The location is convenient, only a short walk from the train station and the marina. About 1-2 minutes walk to the Duomo. Very quiet at night.

DenmarkI liked everything.
Though 'very basic' as the host told me, the flat was perfect for a weeks stay for me. It is charming, practical and very well functioning, located in a quiet area of Manarola away from the crowds. Within a few minutes walk you find a great variety af bars, restaurants and two grocery stores. I will definitely stay in Il Bordone if I come to Cinque Terre again. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Giovanni 😊👍

United StatesIt was a hike up the hill but as we hiked each day in Cinque Terre our legs became more used to the hills which were really everywhere in most of the 5 villages.
Liked our little balcony and the character left from the old building.

United KingdomA little bit noisy at times due to the hotel which is next to the apartment - specifically the patio attached to one of the hotel rooms
Very comfortable, lovely location away from the crowds, very helpful host, generous snacks in the room to include beer, water, sweets , breakfast snacks and lots of tea and coffee.

GermanyGiovanni was a really nice host. The small room had everything needed, a few snacks, some drinks in the fridge, and a few other amenities for a fair price. The location was the perfect starting point to explore Cinque Terre. I would book it again.

AustraliaCarting luggage up the hill... But as mentioned above it is worth it!
Absolutely everything. The room was perfect - plenty of space and very cool staying in an old wine cellar. Manarola is so small location isn't important, however, this was up the hill slightly meaning the majority of day tourists didn't come up here. The area was much quieter than the lower sections and perfect to stay in.

United KingdomGiovanni is such an attentive and friendly host, he gave us the warmest welcome. The communication with him was simply amazing, always very responsive. We stayed in the extremely clean, cosy double room with our private bathroom and the terrace where we enjoyed very much a cold glass of wine after a long day walking around. He also provided us with coffee, teas, some croissants, some water and beers :) Everything is taken care of in detail. The train station in 10 min from the room :) There are a few cafes and bars near by. The neighbourhood is fairly quiet and charming. Although you won't be able to leave your luggage at Giovanni's place before check-in or after check-out, there is a great place that he recommended to us where we could leave our belongings only 2 min walking for 5 euros (I believe you pay that for the whole day). Manarola is such a great town. After visiting the 5 towns of Cinqueterre we were very happy that we chose this one to spend our weekend. You can find great places to eat, to have a drink, to swim.... We found that the prices here are a little bit cheaper than in other towns too. If I'm ever back to 5terre I would try to stay again at Giovanni's as it has been one of the best stays I have ever had, no doubt about it!!!!

AustraliaThe only note I would make is that the picture of the balcony is taken from a long angle so it's a little misleading. In fact there is a terrace right in front so not great for privacy. Having said that during our stay no one was there, and Giovanni had provided covers if we needed to have some privacy, which we ended up not using.
We really liked Manarola, it was the best of the 5 villages. The place itself was really nice too, very clean, very comfortable and obviously recently renovated. Everything was as advertised and Giovanni was very helpful and quick to respond.
