Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UkraineThe room was a little noisy in the night, because you can hear everything thats happening in the building, eg someone taking a shower. It doesnt help that the night is super quiet! so that took some getting used to. Also the breakfast was good, but no fruit or veggies of any kind - perhaps because we were offseason.
Amazing location on top of a mountain, perfect to get away from it all. Solid breakfast. There is a bike rental place where you can rent ebikes to explore the surroundings, which are beautiful.

SwitzerlandSince the Ciocco Hotels are several buildings in a large area, we had difficulties finding the reception. Check-out time is 10 a.m., which we think is quite early, especially when in holidays. Unfortunately, the scrambled eggs in the heating container were cold.
Our stay at the Ciocco was good. The thing we liked the most was the cleanliness of our room as well as the very friendly check-in lady. The location is quite a bit up in the woods (4km from the entrance!). The area looks a bit like a country club in the U.S. The breakfast takes place in another building up the hill, so if you don‘t want to walk up the steep street to the breakfast and/or dinner, you better have a car! The breakfast was good, but you have to ask for fresh coffee (there was only filtered one at the buffet). The fresh coffee/espresso was great - and included in the price. You basically find everything on the buffet. Big plus: VERY quite, surrounded by nature. See added picture as it shows the view from our balcony.

United KingdomRoom did not have air conditioning or a mini fridge. It was very very hot when we stayed so these two things would have been really good to have. The staff did arrange for a tower fan for us which was really nice of them and certainly helped, especially at night when sleeping, but I do think a/c would be a nice addition. Also, there isn't a swimming pool (which is made very clear when booking so it wasn't a surprise to us) but if there was the option to have one the hotel would be that much better, or even to have an arrangement with the posh Renaissance Hotel to use their pool would be great. As it turns out we ended up using the pool in Albiano which was fine.
The location and views from the hotel are absolutely stunning. The beds are comfortable, bathroom is modern/clean and breakfast is good. The staff at reception speak great English and are very friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking also and pretty easy to get to, although be aware that you will definitely need a car, unless you like walking up mountains!

FranceWhile my overall stay was satisfactory, I encountered an issue regarding the hotel's location. The information provided on Booking.com differed from the actual location as depicted on Google Maps. According to Booking.com, the hotel was described as being down the hill, but in reality, it was up the hill. This discrepancy caused some inconvenience and confusion during my stay.
The reception lady was incredibly kind and understanding. Despite my walking trouble, she went above and beyond by driving me to the breakfast location. Her genuine kindness made my stay all the more memorable.

New ZealandThe location is pretty remote so it can be tricky to get around without a car. However, you can easily get around by taxi or with a rented car.
Most things honestly! The rooms are very nice and clean. The staff is absolutely lovely and super helpful! And the location and surroundings are gorgeous.

United Kingdom1. Bit of confusion about how to checkout. No one at reception tried ringing, someone finally picked up told me I had to go back up the hill to the restaurant that I just had my breakfast... No one mentioned it before.... 2. Nowhere does it say it's a car racing place, when we came in there was someone practicing making lots of noise and making it hard for us to get to our chalet. 3. Electric charging point not working but even if it did other NON electric cars were parked there (assuming however they were staff)
Beautiful views. Very nice breakfast, lovely restaurant with great food. Our chalet was beautiful and had everything we needed

United StatesHost who checked me in was very warm and kind, but she didn't know much about the hiking trails on the mountain. She did download and print a Google maps of trails, but it was a bit hard to follow. The resources for this could stand to be improved. One thing to note is the property is really only accessible by car. It would be extremely inconvenient to come and go using public transit or taxis. Thus with the expense of the car rental, it sort of nullifies the good deal I got on the lodging. Also, there is no pool... Somewhere online I saw a picture with a pool saying it was Il Ciocco, but it's definitely not. Perhaps it was of the Renaissance Resort, owned by Marriott and located a.bit further down the mountain.
Location provided excellent views and access to natural setting for walks (or sports if you do that sort of thing). Due to low volume of clients at this time of year, they upgraded my reservation to a room with balcony and view. Was wonderful. Breakfast was excellent - variety of foods on buffet, and food at the restaurant for dinner was delicious and not terribly expensive by US standards. Restaurant is a 10 minute walk or 3 min drive uphill.
