Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoTHE BUILDING HAS NO ELEVATOR. It is not the owner's fault, but take it into account before renting. The shower space is tiny, so make sure you are flexible enough to wash yourself without bending over. Location is somewhat far from downtown, although it's easy to get there by public transport.
The host was very helpful, made a great effort to communicate with us, gave us great recommendations, was honest and sensible. Although the building looks old, the apartment is very comfortable, has air conditioning, TV, an iron, washing machine, a dehumidifier in the bathroom, a fully furnished kitchen, and windows with mosquito protection. It is very safe as well.

United StatesIt was definitely nice to have the kitchenette for cooking small meals and snacks, but I would not expect to be able to cook a large meal simply given the size (it is in a cupboard in the wall), and only one of the two burners gets hot enough to really cook on it. It is not professionally managed--more like an intimate and authentic experience. We did have some trouble with the laundry machine and it took a couple of days to get directions
This place had everything we expected--mini kitchenette in the room, comfortable bed, small outdoor patio, and little touches like coffee grounds, fruit for breakfast, detergent pods, etc. We were greeted by Mr. Piacenti upon our arrival and he spent an hour going over all of the details of the place, showing us a map of Florence with recommendations on what to see and how to get there, and recommended local restaurants and grocery stores. The place is 2 mins walk from the nearest grocery store, and is fairly accessible to the city center by bus or tram.

United KingdomWhilst not expecting 5 star accommodation, I would describe it as adequate for our needs. It was clean enough, but furnished with an eclectic mix of furniture, linen and furnishings. The folding bathroom door did come apart, but was patched up by the owner the following day.
Florence was definitely a beautiful city. Very busy though and quite expensive. Pisa and siena were lovely and train and bus travel easy.

BelarusThere were some instabilities in Wi-Fi connection, but they were fixed by the host quite quickly. The bathroom door couldn’t be closed properly, so it can be an issue for those who need secured privacy.
This property is located in 25-minutes walk from the Central Railway Station and in 35-minutes walk from Santa Maria del Fiore - just perfect to burn extra calories from all the delicious Italian cuisine. The nearest Carrefour is in 7-minutes walk. The host, signore Piacenti, is a very charming and hospitable man. He gave us a map and showed us all the Florence sights worth visiting, both famous and less-known. Signore Piacenti also suggested we visit other Tuscany cities like Pisa and Siena and offered help in finding the right tour. During our stay he kept in touch and made sure that we had everything we needed. We were also offered some fruits and Italian coffee, that was really sweet. The room was nicely decorated and cosy. The furniture and appliances are a bit worn-out but clean and functional, so it only added more charm to the apartment. The balcony decorated with flowers had a table with two chairs and a nice view into the inner garden, perfect for breakfast or late dinner outside. Both AC and washing machine helped a lot, as some days were extremely hot. A perfect option for those who want an authentic Italian experience while visiting Florence.

United StatesIt wasn't super clean but fine. There were also quite a few steps to reach the top level that the apartment is on, so if you have heavy bags it is a consideration. The apartment does have a washing machine, but we could have used some instructions on use- there was no dryer and the clothes were soaking wet and took nearly 2 days to dry.
The location was great, with easy access from the airport. The host emailed me easy to follow directions to take the tram to the location. The host was very kind and gave us a map to help with finding the train station where we met with some of the tours we took. It was only about a 15-20 minute walk. He also recommended some great sights to see around Florence. One huge bonus was there is a farmer's market that sets up in front of the building next door M-Sat. and also a supermarket about a block away. There are also great restaurants easily within a 5-10 minute walk.

United KingdomEverything was great!
My partner and I had an amazing stay here. The welcome from the host was wonderful, he and his wife were so friendly. We were given lots of tips and recommendations for what to do, where to eat and how to get around. We wanted to do a tour of some smaller towns/cities in Tuscany and the host was incredibly helpful - he phoned the company for us and found us the perfect tour for a great price (we were rather picky!). The room itself was lovely, it had everything we needed for our stay and more. The kitchenette was very well equipped, there was a washing machine (for which we were given detergent pods), the bed was very comfortable, the AC worked well and the WiFi was strong (good enough to stream smoothly). The location was great for us, away from the busy centre but very easy to get to anywhere you need. Most things are within walking distance but we used the bus quite a bit. The stop is so close to the apartment and the host gave us plenty of help on which bus would take us to where we wanted to go. This was an excellent place to stay, and the kindness and help from the hosts made it all the more enjoyable and memorable! Definitely stay here if you are visiting Florence.

United KingdomThe wardrobe was falling apart as were the draws. The kitchen area is in a unit which is also falling apart and there is no where to put things if you are cooking. The shower falls off the wall and more than once fell on both of us. The bed is 2 singles put together, not a double and is very uncomfortable indeed. We both felt that it was not very clean and in need of refurbishing. The host is a very nice guy and he is very friendly. The room is cheap but, no matter what you pay, the accommodation should be fit for purpose.
there was plenty of hot water.
