The parking was in the city, extremely difficult to find. We parked at a different garage and barely made it in with our mid-size rental. Not for the faint of heart. And it was hard to find Il Sasso, took us over 30 minutes. It is quite the hike with a suitcase thru cobblestsone streets and then up a few different sets of steps. But once we got there it was worth the trip.

Luciana is an amazing host, so warm and welcoming. The location was amazing, at the foot of the church built into the rock cliffs. It was even more beautiful in the evening. We were close to most of the main attractions. We had fun at the Bar across the street with a live jazz band one night, including some of Luciana's lovely neighbors. Our breakfast was outstanding, including freshly made focaccia bread among other delicious foods.

Luciana's B&B was exceptional. Everything in our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Breakfast every morning on the terrace was delicious and fresh. The location was perfect for seeing this amazing historical town. The view from our room was beautiful. Luciana was also very helpful with booking taxis and helping with a transport problem we had, her recommendations for where to dine were exceptional meals. Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting amazing Matera

Location and host were great. Luicana is an extremely friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic host. She readily helped me booked the train tickets to and from Bari when I encountered some difficulties. Also recommended a very knowledgeable guide who took us on a private tour to the National Park. Best part of the 2D stay was waking up each morning to a yummy breakfast prepared by her.

Lucianas kind and warm spirit is the epitome of the experience at II Sasso e la Seta. She is simply a beautiful human being who genuinely cares and loves people. Her home is beautiful, clean, well placed and this is a highly instagrammable sort of property. Thank you Luciana for being so awesome. We love and appreciate your care. Oh, the breakfast is a story on it own. Beautiful and delicious!

Luciana was lovely, super helpful, very nice, friendly and so positive! Her husband was waiting for us and escorted us to the house. Delicious breakfast with a view of the beautiful city. The location could not be better...a few meters above our house, I proposed to my girlfriend near the church. She said yes! It was amazing stay in Il Sasso e la Seta. The room was beautifully decorated. Only an artistic soul could do that. A wonderful view from the terrace of the room. Luciana created an unforgettable atmosphere. Great breakfasts during which Luciana talked not only about Matera, but also about film and theater art. We will definitely be back there !! We highly recommend this lovely place. Yes , now we know the meaning of "dolce vita"

Luciana is a fantastic host: kind, super available, she makes everything she can to meet the needs of her guests with her big, genuine smile. Breakfast on her little terrace every morning was the perfect way to start the day, with delicious portions of local food, both sweet and savoury.

Absolutely everything! The location is perfect, just in the heart of the Sasso Caveoso (our favourite). It’s a very quiet area with an amazing view! Parking is only a few minute walk. Luciana was absolutely delightful, extremely helpful and so passionate about her hospitality! We would go back for sure!

Our stay was excellent! The apartment is central in the Sassi part of Matera, with a charming view on the whole city from the terrace. Everything you need is in the apt (A/C, small fridge, tea ...), and all highlights, shops and restaurants are close by. The hostess is wonderful. We got a warm welcom, plenty of help and suggestions, and the most delicious breakfast with home-made jams and local delicacies fresh from the bakery. Thank you Luciana!
