How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There was a smell coming out from the toilet.
Our apartment was very well located overlooking the volcano, including a very nice outdoor terrace. The apartment was spacious and very well equipped.

No facilities in the room for making tea or coffee but there are plenty of places to eat and drink coffee just outside.
Nice room with comfortable bed and view of the sea from the balcony. Very close to where the ferry drops you off in Stromboli. Must recommend Il Malandrino, nice food, drinks and very friendly and welcoming staff.

Big spacious room to base yourself from to explore Stromboli and a short walk from the ferry pier. Brilliant view of the volcano from the window. We were there with two adults and two young kids and it was ideal for what we needed - straightforward and clean accommodation.

The room was dark because there is no window. The light source was the open door. The window is in the toilet.
The bed was big and comfortable. There is space for your stuff, a wardrobe and a nice desk. We found everything we need in the toilet. Reception is available for needs and they offer an excursion to the Vulcan that I really suggest. Plus, the place is close to the port so you don't need to book a luggage to bring your luggage there.

Had an excellent time in Stromboli. Very much looking forward to come back. The locations is placed right next to the port so it is very convenient for taking the ferry. The street is very intimate and quiet and the staff at Il Vulcano a Piedi super helpful and sweet. The room is clean and tidy. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need

STROMBOLI IS THE UNIQUE ISLAND AMONG THE AEOLIAN ISLANDS ULA FROM THE RECEPTION IS VERY NICE AND KIND. THE ROOM WAS GREAT ALL VERY CLEAN WITH AC TV. 2 MINUTES FROM THE BOAT. THERE WAS A FRIDGE IN THE ROOM AND I WAS PLEASED.... GRAZIE MILLE

No WiFi in the dorm. Hasn't worked for several months. Had to go sit in the office for the wifi.
Great location by the port. Good guided tours. Easy going staff who were happy to help with any query. Clean facilities and shower. Shower gel and towels provided and a small water bottle. Nice big terrace to relax on. A communal fridge. Respectful fellow guests.

Wifi connectivity wasn’t working, though not a huge issue for me.
Great location in the centre of town & very clean! Towels and feee toiletries were provided too. Staff were very lovely & welcoming! Would definitely recommend.

Wifi!! Unfortunately it doesn’t work in the apartment, only sometimes in front of the office. But if you’re not dependent from wifi it’s no problem and it’s a wonderful choice.
The staff is really nice and helpful! We really enjoyed our stay there. The view on the Vulcano from our apartment was unique and amazing. They also offer tours to the Vulcano.

We booked a tour to the volcano with the same company. The tour was well organized and we had plenty of time to look at the Stromboli volcano and saw some eruptions. Unluckily our guide did not speak English or German, therefore we did not get much information on the tour.
Spacious and clean room with kitchen and outside terrace, Climate control available, quiet street, near ferry terminal, simple furniture. A bit of decoration like paintings or pictures on the walls would make the room more cozy. Cafes for breakfast are nearby.

A bit of a bad smell that lingered throughout our stay. We weren't able to get the room until after midday, which dampened our experience a bit. We had to take a ferry at 07:15 in the morning and forgot to talk to staff about that. We gave key to some guy who seemed like he knew the owners and hope to God that he gave the key to them. A mailbox in which to put the key would have been nice :)

The bunk beds in the dorm room are kind of small and a bit shaky. I felt uncomfortable on the upper bed.
It’s a beautiful place and they also organize hikes up Stromboli in the easiest possible way a trip could be organized.

Everything they cancelled my booking and took all the money. These guys are cheats. They confirmed the booking, took my money then said it was impossible to check when I arrived on the ferry. I had to sleep on the beach or stay non the ferry.
