How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I was a little bit noisy in the evening on Friday and Saturday evening but you can't be mad at people because of their way of life - Saturday night fever ;)
The location is exceptional. Right around the corner is the main pedestrian central street with lots of cafe's, restaurants, shops. It leads you directly to the Central railway station where you catch the train to Cinuque Terre, if you turn left. If you turn to the right, in less than five minutes you reach a long park, along the coast line and the harbour.

The noise from the bars downstairs was quite loud.
Beautiful apartment. Very spacious. Lots of amenities for us to use. Kitchen was very well stocked. The host was so helpful and great at communicating with us!

Extremely noisy, very loud music from the bar under the flat till 3 am in the morning, so loud that it seems there’s a huge party right in your room, even with open windows

Noisy on the weekend because of the bar downstairs, but that was just for one night the entire week I was there.

Everything is good about this apartment. Great location, comfortable beds, full of utensils, and a beautiful space to relax. Can’t complain about anything during our stay.

On the 2nd floor with no lift & heavy luggage, was a little background noise from a local bar & cafe but heard nothing once the doors are closed. The location is further away from the train station than most stays but is only 10-15mins walk away.
Great location with the marina only a few minutes walk away, local buses around the corner, supermarket only a few minutes away..... loads of choice of bars/restaurants, check out the local market for amazing produce. The washing machine was a pleasant surprise. Worth a visit to Porto Venere, just watch out for the bus times to return.

Nice appartment, just like in the pictures. Great location in the center of La Spezia and lot of restaurants just behind the corner. Helpful host gave us tips where to park the car for free.

Pub next door so it can be quite noisy and you can smell people smoking. Difficult to park nearby on the street. We went to piazza d'armi, where you can park for free at only about a 15' stroll.
We did not meet the host but got the keys from a lock box at the entrance. Communication via e-mail or sms was perfect. Host gave tips where to park. Very central and close to bars, restaurants...

Was not great. We booked months in advance and then our payment didn’t go through because we had a new card which then cancelled the stay and had to rebook for almost 100 more, then the owner wanted more money for the baby. She justified this as more linens for the baby but we had our own pack and play and didn’t use anything more than what was given so I don’t understand more after we already paid more. Owner said problem was with booking and not her problem. The picture doesn’t show the view of the patio across the way which has a dog outside barking all the time. Bar downstairs offers 1 euro shots and attracts lots of younger people to be outside partying literally all night. Doors don’t close all the way or properly and was a safety concern for our kids but also the noise coming in from outside. I had high hopes for this place but think it might be the least favourite of my stays throughout my trip to Italy. To be honest La Spezia as a whole isn’t that great and I would skip it.

The apartment is not make us happy. The price is to high, to what we get. I think that it will be nace to have shampoo and soaps. .
