How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Room was on 3rd floor so we just took what we needed from our large suitcase left in the car, not a problem for us. Easy on street parking free in shoulder season.
Lovely stay, apt in residential area but easily walkable to city. Beautiful patio for breakfast and wonderful warm croissants. Very clean. Quickly responded when asked for wine glasses on patio as well.

The owners are really nice. Rooms are so clean and italian breakfast is served every day (croissants, salami, cheese, coffee...). It is closed to alghero centre(25 min walking) and we didn't have problems for parking in october.

The placement was good and the owner was kind to us all the time. The terrace was a really pleasant surprise.

Very nice stay with welcoming hosts. Breakfast on the terrace each morning. 20 minute walk to the centre, close to bus stop which can take you directly to airport.

The place was super nice and tidy. The owner is very friendly, and helpful, always smiling. You feel very cozy and welcome here. We stayed there for 11 days and would definitely come back.

No lift and rooms are upstairs.
Spacious room, very clean, good breakfast, parking available in the nearby roads, hosts were amazing.

Breakfast was very dry! Could do with some butter and they have a fridge so not sure why it was not available. Also, some tomatoes would go a long way to spruce up the cheese or dry toast.
The host was a very pleasant man. Breakfast venue lovely with flowers and open air.

There is nothing not to like about this accommodation. We had use of a veranda with comfortable chairs. The location is beautiful for holidaying. The old town is a must see. The beaches have white soft sand.
B&B La Bouganville is a really lovely place and owned by the most impressive host, Jani. Jani is the kindest, sweet person and always available to help. The breakfasts were great with a large variety of continental style food every morning. So glad I stayed there. I would recommend highly. We will come back.

Location is excellent- about five mins away on foot to the nearest white sand beach, 6 mins to a coop/conad supermarket and 3 mins to the main train/bus station to go to Sassari or to the Airport. The room was clean, just as in the pictures with comfortable pillows and bed. Gianni, the host, was prompt with replies and always courteous and ensuring a comfortable experience. The breakfast was plentiful (coffee, juice, fruit, Apricot croissant, homemade cake, toasted bread, cheese, honey and spreads) and the apartment was comfortable and well-appointed.

The location is a little far away from the city centre.

The BEST place to stay in Alghero! Lovely owner everything was perfect from the early communications to the check in and check out. Room has a balcony, very clean with new towels. Add to that an amazing breakfast with homemade cake and free service for coffee, cappuccino, yogurt and fruits. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back whenever I visit Alghero.
