It was on a busy street and a bit complicated to get to by car or to find parking near by, but you really shouldn’t try to drive into Palermo anyway.

The property was spacious with great amenities and high end finishes. There is a washer and DRYER! He provides snacks and some wine plus vouchers for a nearby cafe.

Loved it all

Safe, gorgeous, extremely clean and a fabulous place to stay. Close to city center but on a peaceful block and noise was not an issue at all. Salvatore was excellent to communicate with before and during our stay. Loved the balcony where excellent Sicilian wine was enjoyed every evening. Extremely comfortable for our party of 4. We did not use the breakfast vouchers because eating breakfast in the apartment was so delightful. Everything that we possibly could need was provided. Would definitely want to stay here again if we return to Palermo. An absolutely special find and an excellent value!

Think about the Ritz Hotel in London or Paris. What comes to mind? Class, elegance, luxury, comfort, service, style. Palermo does not have a Ritz Hotel but “Le Rose di Nonna Maria” might be as close as you can get to it, at a very competitive and affordable price. My family and I (two couples) stayed here for four nights recently and we had high expectations based on the listing and its images, but the experience was even better than we expected. Salvatore, the host, was very communicative and helpful as we made our reservation and helped with several aspects of our planning. We were met at the 4th-floor apartment by his assistant who gave us a thorough tour of the apartment and many of its features and gave us an overview of nearby locations on a map. The spacious “master” bedroom is on the main floor and the 2nd large bedroom is in a large loft above it. Although the beds were firm compared to our norm, we quickly adapted and liked them. The furniture and furnishings are classy yet functional and comfortable. Modern appliances and features throughout. Central A/C and heating which can be adjusted individually in each room. It’s all in the little details too: a bottle of Prosecco, bottled water and fresh fruit in the fridge; delicious hard Italian candies throughout; fresh pastries and a torte in the formal dining room; a desktop PC with high-speed internet and printer; a stereo system rack with LPs and cassettes for a variety of tastes; a very large TV with Netflix, Prime, etc.; complimentary custom-made cards for continental breakfast at a nearby café; plush bathrobes; umbrellas by the door in case it is raining and you need one; a washer AND dryer (highly unusual in Italy and other Mediterranean countries) for your clothes. Excellent location on a relatively quiet residential street: 10-minute walk to Teatro Massimo and the Capo Market and 20-minute walk to the Cathedral. Superb apartment with a superb host. The host, Salvatore, was delightful. He helped me find an English speaking physiotherapist, recommended an excellent taxi service and happily came over to ‘fix’ the hot water when we turned it off by mistake. The apartment was large and airy and very well presented. It had everything we needed for our stay including a very well equipped kitchen.

Absolutely nothing! Salvatore and his apartment are both unparalleled in the service industry. I travel a great deal and know intimately that pictures lie! NOT TRUE HERE!! Salvatore offers more than the website indicates and he helps in any way you need, even arranging transportation to and from the airport - even offering to drive himself if we ever found ourselves in a bind. How rare is that in today's world?!?

The apartment has a fully functional kitchen; even so, Salvatore provides discounts to area coffee shops and restaurants. We lacked for nothing, and, following Salvatore's instructions, never had to question where to go. This apartment is so centrally located that we kept finding we could have walked instead of having taken a taxi or a bus. There was virtually nothing out of reach.

Everything ! Salvatore the owner was there to meet us and talk us through the apartment. He recommended restaurants and gave us discount cards. He was so helpful and so friendly and made us feel really welcome. The air conditioning was a god send- it was quiet and each room had it . The space of the apartment was unreal. The apartment was very big and beautifully furnished. It had a piano and a smart tv. Netflix tv was watched by us when we came back for a break from the scorching sun. It also had everything you could wish for in terms of cooking and eating there. The property was so clean and of a very high standard in furnishings, and crockery. Salvatore had put a welcome bottle of Prosecco in the fridge for our arrival plus fresh cherries, a home made cake and some delicious pastries which we nibbled on when we popped back for a siesta .

Everything was way better than it needed to be - if I were to suggest improving one thing it would be the choice of breakfast venues. One was a nice local shop but wasn't usually open. The other was further away and a less nice environment
