Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bed was hard and bathroom very small. Size of bathrooms vary per room.
The building (a converted centuries-old monastery) was lovely. The staff was absolutely amazing and the breakfast buffet was good.

United StatesThe shower head was only a trickle. There was also a hand held shower but it was at knee level so you had to hold it. Difficult to shower with one hand.
Location was very close to town, easy walk. The view from our room and the dining room were absolutely beautiful. Room was clean and comfortable.

United StatesThe hotel is beautiful and we had an incredible room: 2 balconies, one looking at Amalfi and the other at the ocean. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of options, many gluten free. The staff was very attentive and gave us good recommendations. It was low season so the pool was not open, but looked incredible.

View. The room was fine. Bathroom shower is too small. More plugs would be helpful, given technology. The challenge is that it is an 800 year old building. Heated floors are fantastic.

United StatesThe food at the hotel was expensive and nothing special. We had dinner there one night and we only had 2 dishes and the total came to almost EUR 75. I know it's Amalfi so expect to pay more, but I was hoping for a tastier meal. The breakfast gets great reviews at this hotel but to be honest, we travelled all over Italy, and it's just about average. You're paying for breakfast with a view to be honest. Finally, the big disappointment was that the hotel didn't have irons to use. The explanation was due to hotel safety - it's a historical hotel so I totally understand that. However, there are ways to still accommodate. We stayed at a hotel in Rome and in Venice that also had the same safety issues so what they instituted was a time limit on using the iron. 30 minutes at a time. It's a little crazy to think that travelers are showing up with perfectly crisp, ironed clothing. We have things in suitcases and they will be crushed. An iron is a basic need at any hotel in my opinion and is a global standard. Have a common space that's supervised even for ironing if you are that careful about ironing in bedrooms. You can find a way. Just be creative.
The hotel has a super location. Close enough to the action in Amalfi central but just far enough away so you're not in the heart with all the noise and tourist. The property is rich in history as a monastery and very well appointed. Love the boutique feel. We drove to Amalfi to enjoy the drive so it was a relief that the hotel offered parking (which is very difficult in that area).

United StatesIf you have mobility issues, the walk down the hill into town (and back) might be an issue, but it wasn't for us.
The most magnificent view I've ever had from a hotel room. We splurged on a room with a private terrace overlooking the sea and Amalfi town, and it was worth every cent. I still get chills thinking about it (accompanying photos were taken from the terrace). Upon arrival, we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of chilled Prosecco - a very nice touch. This place exudes class; the facilities are beautiful, the staff professional and courteous, and the dining room where breakfast and dinner are served has a view to die for. Spend a little extra, get a room with a view - you won't regret it! PS - the adjoining Torre Saraceno Restaurant is superb!

CanadaThe pillows were not comfortable. Very flat and firm. Italian pillows seem to be lower than what I'm used to in Canada, but those were just really strange. I managed to bunch one in a somewhat comfortable way but my husband could not find a comfortable position.
