How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We liked everything!
The location of the apartment was excellent, inside the walls of Lucca and close to everything we wanted. We really appreciated the access to free parking. The apartment itself was immaculate. It was extremely clean and met all of our needs for a relaxing three-night stay. The air conditioning was a bonus in the heat of summer. Claudia met us to hand over the keys and she was so welcoming and helpful with tips on where to go and what to do. We will definitely stay again on our next trip to beautiful Lucca!

Everything was perfect for our girls' trip.
Claudia is so helpful and welcoming. The apartment is beautifully furnished with attention to detail. The air conditioning is exceptional and so much needed in a hot July. Everything. Claudia is so welcoming and the apartment is wonderful with everything you need , aircon, dishwasher, washing machine etc and you even have la fontana directly in front and can draw fresh spring water which tastes great. It's a gem of an apartment

On weekends there is a busy Pub nearby.
Great location in the walled city of Lucca. Claudia was very helpful showing us places nearby to eat, rent bikes and shop. The apartment was very comfortable and had all we needed for our 5 night stay.

The location was excellent - 60 metres to/from the bus stop (convenient for the railway station) and just a couple of minutes from the main shopping avenue. The apartment was truly amazing. It had beautiful decor, with a fully equipped kitchen area. The whole apartment was large and airy. There was air conditioning in all rooms which was very welcome in the heat. The apartment felt very safe. Our host, Claudia, kindly left fresh fruit and a lovely bottle of wine for us. This was exceptional accommodation and I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it.

Nothing - everything was great.
This apartment is beautifully decorated and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The location within Lucca’s city wall makes it an ideal place to explore this picturesque and interesting city. Claudia, our hostess gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and shop and was very responsive to all communication. Highly recommended.

Claudia gave us all the necessary informations. She is very kind and responds to messages very quickly. We liked the location very much and we enjoyed our early mornings, drinking coffee in beautiful Lucca.

The apartment is beautifully furnished and decorated and well equipped, and is in a great location, an easy walk to restaurants, food supplies, and sightseeing. Claudia was an excellent host, very friendly and helpful and keen to ensure we had a wonderful stay.

Nothing at all, apart from we could not stay longer.
The apartment was in the perfect location, next to the amazing Lucca city walls with easy access to everything Lucca has to offer. Claudia was the brilliant host, spending time to not only explain the facilities in the apartment but also the local amenities, she checked with us mid-stay that all was OK. The apartment was so clean and comfortable. During our time in Lucca we also saw the Roman Viaduct and visited the botanical gardens.

Nothing. Everything was really to our liking, especially the hosts, Claudia & Claudio.
We didn't have access to a phone & Claudia very very kindly waited for us for 2 hours! Exceptional hosts. They were friendly and responded immediately to any queries or needs. Very very nice people and the apartment was so beautifully appointed and comfortable. Very close to many restaurants, banks, little specialty shops. Very happy with our stay.

There is nothing I didn't like about this apartment.
What a delightful apartment. Situated within the walls it is on the edge of the vibrant town. The design of the apartment is well thought out and tastefully decorated with great air-con. The hosts were so kind and thoughtful, as I was travelling on my own and I felt very safe. Am definitely returning to this apartment.

Coming home 😥
The apartment was presented as advertised,luxurious! You could see at first glance that the owners take great pride in what they do and this is clearly visible in the attention to detail throughout the apartment. The location is also fantastic everything you require shops,bars,restaurants etc are just minutes away. Our hosts Claudia and Claudio are lovely people very welcoming and always willing to help in whatever way they can, I can only say that it was a pleasure to have met them and both my wife and I are looking forward to meeting them again in the near future.

Perfect location adjacent to all facilities. Spoiled by the abundance of places to eat & drink. Loved to antique markets on Sunday. Parking avaiable within a five min walk. Owners of apartment are very friendly and were available at any time if required.
