How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There is a little problem with the cooling system and air circulation. We raised the issue and they tried to fix it, but there is something in the air system that makes the room warm and less air. There were some mosquitoes in the bathroom as well and in the room that bit all of us at night.
Malalbergo is very central and has a very good location. 17minute walk to the central station and a bus that brings you back and to the airport. Laura and her colleague have been very nice and helpful. The room is spacious and comfortable.

Rooms are slightly smaller and no social area to meet people or make friends and interact. No kitchen or long mirror
Amazing location! Amazing staff booking transfers for us! Felt safe in the centre and was clean!

Malalbergo is definitely "my place" to stay during working and leasure trips in Reggio Calabria. The hostel is equipped with modern architecture, robust and comfortable beds. Downstairs there is a bar and restaurant offering small discounts for the hostels' clients. Very good location, close to the sea, the shopping route and not so far from the archeological museum.

Reggio Calabria is not meant for tourists. If I had known better, I would have stayed in Taormina instead. AC or air ventilation didn't seem to work properly.
Hostel has a very nice café downstairs and probably a very nice pizzeria, open until 12 am in the evening.

I had a great stay at Malalbergo, with a lovely clean room and a great view from the balcony out onto the sea. Laura was exceptionally helpful, offering advice for places to visit. It was well located and had a nice bar (with the same owner) just downstairs.

During our one day stopover in Reggio, Calabria we had the pleasure of staying at these immaculate premises, which were clean, well positioned and excellent value for money. We would certainly stay there again if we visit Calabria. We particularly want to thank Laura for her kind help and advice during our stay at her place !

It was Friday night, so it was a bit noisy outside, but to be expected and didn't stop us from sleeping soundly.
The location was perfect for a short stay and the upgrade was a really nice touch. The suite was exceptional and the view over Sicily was wonderful. Choice of food at Malavenda was so good we had lunch, dinner and breakfast there!

Nothing. It’s also a great value for money.
The location is exceptional!Close to the beach and the center and the view is worth the money and the trip. The staff is super nice and accommodating, Laura is friendly, welcoming and goes all the way to help out and make you feel at home. The bar downstairs that belongs to the same property where you can have breakfast is outstanding: great cornetti,very good red velvet, wide selection of teas and very good coffee.

Breakfast in Malavenda Cafe outside was great, luckily on a feast day holiday when most places for dinner were booked or closed, we were given a table.

I got a shared room and the upper beds make noise with any movement. The single room must be very very good

Centrally located B&B close to the main shopping street, enough parking options nearby at lungomare, very friendly and helpful staff, Italian breakfast at the Malavenda Bistrot in the same building was delicious, enjoyed the strait view from our balcony

I liked the place, good value for money, clean and straightforward. I don't recall having been in hostels like this anywhere else in south Italy, only abroad in other countries. And they are the perfect solution when you don't look for extra services, but just for a place where to sleep.

Loud at night with bars downstairs, if you're an early sleeper bring earplugs. No cleaning fo 3 days, which is fine really but would be nice to have some trash bins in the room.
Great room, lovley balcony and great location. The balcony with the views made the difference.

Everything was lovely.
Luigi was so lovely, friendly and accommodating.... Really went above and beyond for all your needs. The cafe below is lovely, friendly, nice food, and you are able to leave a bag there before / after check in. Location was PERFECT, right in between the beach and the center.
