Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe door to the room was a little challenging to unlock (old school key) but no big deal.
I loved this property! Marta was so friendly and accommodating, and the room very comfortable. The location by the train/bus station was also perfect, strong WiFi, and it’s dog friendly. Highly recommend!

United StatesIt is hard to tell as I spent just one night at the premises. In any case, I liked everything for the limited duration of my stay.
Marta was a gracious host. She was very friendly upon my arrival and upgraded my room, making my stay even more comfortable. Checking in and out was very efficient. The room was clean, yet quintessential, which I fancy. The premises also had a nice common area, which I wish I could have enjoyed for a more extended stay (I spent just one night there). Marta is in the city center, a few hundred meters from the train/bus stations, the seafront, a.k.a. "le Rive" of Trieste, and places where to eat and enjoy downtown.

GermanyMy room was directed to the street, so it was a bit loud with having the window open.
Very nice personal, the location was perfect (close to train & bus station and the centre), cozy room, even with ventilator.

AustraliaCheck in was a bit challenging, maybe I hadn't read the full instructions but I wasn't get responses to call/messages and sat downstairs waiting for sometime. Also even though on the 3rd floor the street noise is quite noticeable (it was hot so more than a fan was needed).
Good size room, comfy bed and nice to have a shower in the room for cool downs in the heat.

GermanyNothing really, just make yourself aware that this is a larger apartment with roughly 10 rooms and not a classic hotel. It is still very quiet and private so all good.
I enjoyed staying here. The host Marta is very kind, facilities are good and clean plus location is good. All-in-all very good stay for the price that you pay, can only recommend.

AustraliaPerhaps we missed the instructions on how to enter the premises. We found the plaque on the front door then pressed the buzzer with her name. That opened the door into a very dingy foyer with no sign as to where to go. We simply went up the stairs until we found the right door on the third floor. Once found all was good.
Marta was very friendly and helpful. It has a lovely homely feel and is nicely decorated. It was an easy stroll to sights and eateries.

CanadaThere is no indication on the outside door as to how to get in. I tried ringing several times, twice at different times in the morning and no one answered, until by chance the third time the door opened. You are suppose to ring and AT THE SAME TIME push the door to enter the building and go to the 2nd floor for the hostel.
I liked the location and the owner is very nice and welcoming.

IrelandExcellent location. A stones throw from the train/bus station. Trieste promenade a 5 minute walk to watch a glorious sunset. An abundance of restaurants and cafes nearby - Marta is a warm and welcoming hostess, who will meet you with a smile and a hug. I loved the old style Italian decor and lighting. 😍 I had an excellent nights sleep (big bonus) super value for money. I highly recommend a stay with Marta. Grazie Molto. Linda (Irlanda) 🤗

NetherlandsThe showerhead and sliding doors are nearly broken and need fixing or replacement.
Marta offers rooms with a homestay feel. I really appreciated the warm welcome and goodbye, felt like I was staying with a relative or friend. I booked a room with shared bathroom, but got one with en suite, which I appreciated! The rooms offer absolute value for money, with what I'd describe as an old Italian palazzo style, and the location in central Trieste is perfect.

AustraliaThe shower doors were broken. Maybe some air conditioning would make the stay a lot more value for money and comfortable especially if travelers spend large amounts of their time outside and want a place to really cool down and relax.
The decoration and cleanliness was great. My host knew who I was from the moment I walked in the door and she was very friendly and kind. She was patient with my bad Italian.

BelgiumImportant to note is that there is no Wi-Fi in this accommodation, so do keep in mind.
Great location, allowing you to be in the city center of Trieste for a great price - as a solo traveler this is all you need. The room is clean, as well as the shared bathrooms. The host was also very friendly! Make sure to ring the bell till you hear it ring, since otherwise you will be stuck there for a bit. A solo traveler on a budget should look no further and take this room.
