How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing could have been better, everything was excellent.
The hotel has been renovated and was very clean and clearly well looked after. All of the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly, second to none. Breakfast was excellent.

I only stayed one night before flying out the next morning. For me it was a great location to access Roma Termini. I was able to visit some sites nearby as well as attend a musical performance at a nearby church. Staff were wonderful. They bagged up breakfast for me since I had an early flight.

Bathroom was very small. Extremely small elevator.
Staff was amazing! So helpful and friendly. Having a balcony was very nice. Location is excellent, on a quiet street, but close to everything.

We were on the first floor, below street level, no windows we could see out of and noise from people on the street all night.

Small elevator.

Absolutely nothing!
The hotel was absolutely brilliant. Lovely, cool, spacious room. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was brilliant! So much choice. And the large outdoor courtyard was such a welcome escape from the busy city. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough! We travelled with a 6 year old and 1 year old and they both loved the hotel too!

Although the breakfast was basic, it was sufficient to start the day. Also a bit more pricey probably depending on the time of the year that might change but overall it's OK
My two-night stay at Hotel Maximus in Rome was pleasant. The hotel's central location made it easy to explore the city, and the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a decent experience, and I would consider staying there again in the future.

The hotel is very nice, but its two finest features are its staff and its location. The front desk is open 24 hours a day, and I was always greeted by cheerful, helpful staff. The ladies at the front desk are friendly and were always very responsive to my questions and any requests that I made. The location of this hotel is great for visiting Rome. It is a ten-minute walk from the Rome Termini train station and just several minutes away from a metro stop.

Had a little trouble adjusting the temperature in the room. My wife wanted it a little warmer, and we couldn't figure it out, but it was fine with me.
Breakfast was excellent! A lot of places just have a continental breakfast, but this one had eggs and bacon along with all the other breads, yogurts, fruit, cereals, etc. Also had a machine to fill up my water bottle with fresh spring water.

Nothing, it was so good!
The room was comfortable and a very good size for a single room. The hotel itself was very pretty and it felt nice to be in. The breakfast had a good selection. The best part was the service! The ladies at the front desk were amazing and so helpful. They shared tips on what I could do and were so accommodating. I enjoyed my stay here!
