Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is a bit old fashioned but the helpful staff more than make up for that. The approach is very steep so could be a problem for people with mobility problems.
The hotel has wonderful views of Mount Etna and the bay below. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. It is good to be able to use the beach and restaurant at the sister hotel in the bay. The hotel is relaxed and not too sophisticated.

United KingdomThere’s only one lift in the hotel, and you can only call it when it’s free! But a minor annoyance more than anything .
The staff could not have been more accommodating. It is such an endearing hotel, with beautiful views, and closely located to the centre. If you want super luxurious, it is not for you. But it met our needs perfectly.

IrelandAn evening meal option for 2 rainy days we had - maybe they do it later in the season.
Delighted with this hotel, fantastic , panoramic view from our room and balcony overlooking the town and facing Mt Etna. Great location beside town centre with either a short steep walk down to the Porta Catania at one end of the Corso Umberto or a longer gradual hill down the Via Circonvallazione to the gate at the other end , the Porta Messina. It’s a 1960’s-1970’s style hotel with 6 floors, medium sized tiled rooms, small bathroom and a small lift but a nice diningroom , lounge and outdoor terrace for breakfast in fine weather , a good breakfast with gluten free options for my wife as requested. There is also a nice pool and gardens at the back , again with panoramic views. There is a shuttle to it’s sister hotel with it’s own beach but we didn’t use this feature. Very friendly and unobtrusive staff who organised our taxi to the train station on departure. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and it probably has the best location in Taormina.

IrelandThe beds were a little hard but I would have slept on the floor to wake up to that view. The breakfast was not great but the coffee was good.
The waiters were great setting up the tables outside for us in the morning so we could enjoy a truly spectacular view.with breakfast. The hotel is a little old fashioned but I found it charming and quaint.

AustraliaJust make sure you’re okay with the steep walk up to the hotel after visiting the main drag for restaurants and shopping etc…
I love older hotels and this one is a goodie! The room was slightly dated but it was big with a small balcony perfect to look at the bay and of course Etna. The cocktail/breakfast deck is incredible… true old school with a magnificent staff member taking perfect care of everyone who visits. In fact, the whole team was really great… we were not allowed to touch our luggage while in this hotel! Felt like a movie star!

United StatesThe bed was a little too firm for our liking. Not a critique - just a note if you have mobility issues... it's a 10-15 minute walk up and down multiple inclines and staircases to get to the main area where the shops and restaurants are located.
Exceptional staff who go out of their way to help - this is with its weight in gold Vintage vibe... not fancy but comfortable enough. Deep, long bathtub with plenty of hot water. Sister Resort on the waterfront offers beach access, and the hotel will arrange shuttle service to and from.

United KingdomThe private terrace needs to be made more private, guests walking out can look directly into the next rooms. Perhaps more substantial planting and colour of planting. Huge bed but mattresses rather hard.
Our room had a magical view of the bay and a substantial terrace. Breakfast very good and views from the breakfast room or terrace are amazing. The staff were very accommodating. The hotel has some lovely features, very ‘Poirot’ and the pool is exceptional.

United KingdomDrinks service could have been better at the pool. There isn't a pool bar, so the guys had to go back and forth down quite a few floors to the bar - but i'm being fussy
Beautiful traditional Italian hotel. You could say it's a little old-fashioned, but actually it was perfect. Amazing location - short walk down to the Taormina town where everything is happening. The pool area is beautiful - with incredible views. The rooms are absolutely fine and clean and a good size - and the staff are so friendly. Decent breakfast as well. It is such a great value for money option in a great location

AustraliaMore than anything , the bathroom was really bad , the shower was tiny so at times you had to get out to do things , and turn around , the water was always hot it needed a big renovation . it’s been a tough 3 years for hospitality , we understand , but the hotel does need updating for being classified as a four star hotel , also the air conditioner couldn’t be controlled from the panel in the room , so was hot sometimes at night
the staff were very welcoming and helpful , it was quiet and peaceful , and the terrace view was amazing ,it does have a nice pool , this hotel is above the Main Street and has a sister hotel on the beach , which is for both hotels , and it is really lovely and peaceful , they have a shuttle to get there . Hotel Mediterranee , is very close to the Main Street , it takes 10 minutes from the gate ( end of Main Street, Corso umberto ) there is a incline and then 40 steps to upper street and hotel steps , you can walk the long way , but this is also an incline , but no steps , the hotel grew on us and it did have some old Italian charm . The hotel is closer to a three star hotel ,
