We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe breakfast was limited and inconsistent - one morning a cooked option was offered, the next it wasn't. Our stay coincided with a large party of school children using the hotel - little or no attempt was made to control the noise or the disruption to common areas (entrance/exit, lift, reception etc) as large groups congregated and made it nearly impossible to pass or use facilities. The wi-fi, although free to use, was virtually useless (although this may have been due to the large group all using the facility), and for a large hotel - the bar was small, poorly stocked and infrequently manned. However - we were visiting in early May before peak season starts so this may have been reflected in staffing and facilities.
The location of the hotel next to the beach was good, and the check in/check out process was simple and straightforward. Room was clean and - if a little limited on facilities. In terms of vale for money - it was quite good for an out of season long weekend getaway, provided the expectation is in line with the rates.

United StatesThe room was very small and it was very stuffy when I arrived. I tried to cool down the room, but the system only has heat. To cool the room, you have to leave the windows open. I was worried about mosquitoes getting in, but I also wanted to sleep so I took my chances and got lucky regarding mosquitoes. The internet was incredibly poor. It had a very weak signal that made opening anything a test of patience. While waiting, it would often just disconnect. The small room also had some crumbling plaster by the heating unit.
The breakfast service was good. The location of the hotel is right on the beach. Staff was friendly. The price was excellent.

BelgiumVery unfriendly and rude staff at the reception, discusting shower in the room with mildew, room floor was not clean. The bathroom smelled like a sewer, which perfumed the whole room with a horrible smell. Parking space to be paid extra at 10 euro a day, it was a five minute drive from the hotel, to be done by hotel shuttle, which was only available on fixed hours in the morning and evening, till 19.00h, bad luck if you wanted to go out by car in the evening. This in combination with very unflexible staff at the reception was not a winner. Certainly not worthy a Four star hotel, 2 stars at the max.
