Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Palazzo Daniele is surely not a common hotel.... it feels like a warm and friendly place away from home. It is such a wonderful experience to stay a few days in this beautiful old Palazzo! Rooms are big and beds are comfortable but in a modern, non conformistic way: fresco walls, repaired floors and old wooden windows combined with modern furniture, cozy sofas and contemporary art.... so tastefully done! Above of this all you are welcomed as a friend, showed around and introduced to all the people who make this place so special, including the cooks! The kitchen is a central meeting point here during the day.... you can take a cooking class or just get an extra coffee or a snack whenever you want just by walking in..... We had such a wonderful experience here, coming back for sure!

United StatesThe room needed more lighting. At night it was so dark I wouldn’t put on make up or see my belongings well. I would have liked to have a mini fridge in the room to store some cold drinks. I did not like the towels which were like large tablecloths. They needed more loungers by the pool so that all guests could have one, and they needed more beach towels by the pool. It was always hard to get more towels.
Really gorgeous property with beautiful restaurant and pool areas. Delicious breakfast. Good air conditioning. Easy to park and safe little charming town. I liked that they bright you fresh bottle water everyday. I liked the Grown Alchemist toiletries.

United KingdomThe value for money in terms of food and extras is not great. The breakfast was lovely but any extras were extortionate (for example fried eggs are included in the breakfast but if you wanted boiled it was 10 euros). The same with dinner. You are better of eating at the lovely local pizzeria or delicious local restaurant moi moi to come back and enjoy a drink in the lovely grounds which really cannot be faulted.
Probably one of the most gorgeous places we’ve stayed in and the staff were lovely

AustraliaI adored this Palazzo. I loved that the restoration allowed the original building and grounds to shine through and these were still able to be experienced and appreciated. We stayed in the room with the amazing shower, frescoes on our ceiling and a lemon tree outside our window. I also loved the linen sheets on our bed and the beautiful bed coverings. It was such a privilege to stay and have time to experience this beautiful, old building and its garden. Simply magic.

AustraliaPalazzo Daniele is located in a beautiful little Italian town in Salento with minimal other tourists. The hotel and the rooms are stunning and the service from the staff is second to none. The food is also incredible and meals can be eaten outside in the beautiful grounds of the Palazzo.

United StatesRoom design more style than function. Lighting a challenge. Electrical outlets not functioning. Bathroom counter space a challenge.
Fabulous property. The Palazzo Daniele grounds and design elements are world class. The service was extraordinary. The meals were great, particularly the dinner menu/setting/service. The location was a pleasant surprise. The beaches and area around offered some adventure. The town of Gagliano del Capo was really fun. We enjoyed several evening in the town square, including a disco band one night, and lots of local community activity every night.

FranceIt’s hard to find the negative side to an exceptional stay. if anything, noise from common areas may wake you if you plan to sleep late as the palazzo is lively with other guests and staff going around.
Impeccable taste and care for every last detail: from decoration, to meals, amenities and down to the linen. Feels both grand and “at home” at once. Massage & spa are great.

AustraliaCons: - Location is not ideal. Its in the town center and outside noise can be head from our room at night - Unless you have a car to take you around , you will have to eat all meals in the hotel. Everything outside is closed during siesta hours (12:30-5?) - Menu is very small. Breakfast only includes bread, pastries and eggs (also cost €24 pp) we also couldnt find any cafe that would serve anything else but croissants/ pastries for breakfast - Not all staff speak english which made communicating difficult. Sometimes our request would be ignored (i.e asked for a candle to get rid of mosquitos- said yes but didnt get one, asked for ice- never arrived, asked for tomatoes to be omitted and it would still be there, my husband asked for a normal Margarita and he ended up getting the special Margarita on their menu) - When trying to book something they would only get back to you hours later or after we have followed up a couple of times - Charges you a €4 bottle of water every time. Also cover charge for every dining even though you’re staying at the hotell - Transfers can be very expensive. We asked for them to book us a reservation at a beach club and the transfer was €40 each way (it was only a 7 min drive) - Ordered a t-bone steak (one of the specials) and it came out tough and chewy - Beds were not comfortable and my husband and I both ended up with back pain in the mornings - we did the cooking class which was €180pp and it was only 1 dish AND NOT EVEN IN ENGLISH. Someone had to translate, ridiculous considering the price . It was more like a play session and not a real cooking class
Let me start off by saying this place is insanely beautiful. All corners of this hotel are intricately detailed and aesthetically pleasing. Pros: - bathroom toiletries are from grown alchemist - Hotel is clean - There are ‘mums’ who do all the cooking and you can observe them while they prepare - My husband planned a romantic dinner and the 6 course meal was amazing!!! They also laid out candles all around and we had the gazebo to ourselves - All day menu which allows you to order anytime. They also accommodated our request as we were looking for bacon for brekkie - Some Staff were friendly. Even the italian mums who could only speak italian would try and communicate to us and explain what they were cooking
