Not about property but the inner city zone is forbidden for cars without permits so you need to shuttle back and forth to your car.

Nothing to dislike but we expected more “ palazzo” character or atmosphere, being in the centre of such a historic city.

The location was superb, right in the heart of Matera, next to the cathedral. It was easy to retreat to the hotel for a rest after walking up and down Matera’s many steps. The breakfast was superb, and dinner in the restaurant excellent. The hotel parking outside the centre with free lift to the hotel was very convenient.

The property is lovely and so was our room. Unfortunately, the location of our room was poor due to its proximity to a construction site, a well traveled alley and the maids closet. The hotel wasn’t that crowded so it would’ve been nice if we were given a better room or even offered an upgrade. We would’ve gladly paid for and moved to a quieter room….before we had unpacked all our belongings. The front desk had to know that we would wake to construction noise and the incessant beeping of the vehicles that are used to transport materials. If you stay at this hotel make sure to stay on the backside (view side) of the property.

The property is luxurious and the views from the garden terrace are one of the best in Matera. There are beautiful architectural highlights around every corner. Stunning!

having to leave our car in a car park - unable to drive to door. However the hotel did everything in their power to mitigate by messaging us before our arrival as due to road restrictions - they arrange for their driver to collect you.

Breakfast could have been a little more varied.

From start to finish this hotel was beyond exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and everyone was super friendly and so helpful. Really felt like our holiday started when we were collected by the friendly driver!

Breakfast was quite poor, it was served in a very small breakfast room where tables were very close to each other, the food selection was also extremely limited, it is very rarely seen in such luxury hotels. The air condition did not work, we were told that it will be switched off but as a result the temperature in a suite was not optimal. There is also one thing guests should be aware of, the access to the hotel is only via hotel shuttle that stops outside historic center of the town. We had a very early flight and read in guest comments that it happened that some guests booked a shuttle for an early morning and the pick up was late so they had problems with getting to the airport - there are no regular taxi service in historic center of Matera due to its specific location so guests has to rely on hotel transfer, it might be a little stress especially when somebody has a morning flight from Bari.

The hotel is located in the most central part of Matera and has a great view on the whole town. We were upgraded to a very beautiful suite with an amazing view on Duomo. The hotel staff was also extremely caring and helpful.
