Sadly, Catanzaro Sala Station, adjacent, is closed for the foreseeable future for upgrading of the railway line, which is a great shame for visitors on foot, as the location is only half way up the hill to the city, and only easily accessible to Catanzaro Lido station by bus. (Catanzaro station is currently more-difficult.) It's an onerous climb to the city (although there is a funicular railway some 800m to the east, in the middle of nowhere, that takes you to the top, but you have to zoom-in on Google Maps to even see it!)). However, the rooms are lovely, the location pleasant, and the host charming.

Not much only that the walk to town was all uphill very tiring after 9 hours bike ride

The place is apart from center and old town but it is quite well commuted.

Salvatore - the Host of this place is a very pleasant and helpfull person. The room I have, was very clean, quiet and well equipped. The strong point of this place is a kitchen full of goods where you can eat and drink whatever and whenever you want.

Salvatore the host was exceptional. Very kind, helpful, genuine and assisted us enormously with getting the correct train to our next destination after days of delayed trains and miscommunication in the searing 44 degree heat. I could not recommend Palazzo Sama, La Danillo Pizzaria (amazing fresh quality food near by) and Catanzaro more. Everyone we encountered gave us some of our best Italian Calabrian experiences.

Nice house, very nice and firm mattress, nice and clean room and good breakfast. Close to the city center. If you are fit, you can walk the steep distance in less than 20 min. Dinner at Ristorante Porta Marina is recommendable. Very good food.

We faced only a minor problem that water kettle did not work in the morning. I am pretty sure he would have fixed the problem by next day.

The host was very friendly and everything was planned very well by him. The rooms were very clean and equipped to make our stay very comfortable. The beds were really very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place and we would also stay here. We had an early flight so I cannot comment on the breakfast. But he did provide us the menu well in advance to select the breakfast for the next day.

Location is on a main road in what seems a bit of a run down neighborhood. Parking was ok if you can understand the instructions, which I found very difficult when it was dark. A long way from restaurants and the centre. Not bad as an overnight stop.

Our stay at Palazzo Samà was the pleasant surprise - as far as hosteling is concerned - of a 7 day trip to Southern Italy. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The room was very clean. It had a refrigerator and a very comfortable bed as well as air conditioning. The bathroom is also very clean and beautiful. The value for money is excellent. The staff responded to all our requests. The price also includes a super breakfast. Finaly, there is free private parking. Perfect spot for exploring Calabria. Well done guys, 10/10 of us.
