Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Germany(This is not meant as critique, I just ran out of space above!) Whilst Tavarnelle is not as picture-postcard pretty as most Tuscan towns, it is has everything you need in walking distance from La Capannina (bar/pasticceria, independent shops, restaurants, gelateria), and is ideally located for day-trips by bus or car. The only thing we missed in the otherwise very well equipped apartment was a chopping board/bread board, or perhaps a couple of extra plates for that purpose. The marble table under the stairs had to be used with caution by the taller members of the family, but when you've banged your head once, you remember to take extra care ;-) All in all, we all loved our time at La Capannina and hope we can make it back there again very soon! Grazie a tutti!
We had a wonderful week at La Capannina di Matteo, starting with excellent communication with Virginia in advance, and a very warm welcome from Isa on our arrival, plus an unexpected welcome basket of essentials: wine, water, tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tabs and detergents. This was very much appreciated as it meant not having to buy more than we were actually going to need. All the staff were polite, friendly and respectful. Virginia kept in touch via WhatsApp and was quick to organise a technician when we had a problem with the air-conditioning, and the delightful Isa always made time to stop for a chat when she did her morning rounds of the property, sharing useful tips, and recommending places to visit and to eat. Our apartment, L'Aia, had a nice seating area with barbecue by the front door, facing the garden and parking area concealed behind a hedge; the lounge area opened up onto a spacious side patio with huge citrus plants, overlooking the covered table-tennis area; one bedroom offered a view of the pool, large garden and olive grove at the back of the house; all lovingly maintained by a team of friendly gardeners. Whilst the two bedrooms upstairs, each with ensuite bathroom, were perfect for two couples, the lounge area downstairs had just one 2-seater couch. However, there was space to bring in two outdoor chairs to sit together comfortably on a cold evening, or to escape the mosquitos on a warm evening. Although 5 of the 6 apartments were occupied during our stay, we all seemed to enjoy the peace of the tranquil location, and plenty of privacy. In fact, we saw more of our neighbours at the local bar, where half the town pops in for breakfast, than we did at La Capannina! We loved the fact that recycling is encouraged here, with separate bins emptied regularly by the very diligent cleaning staff.

United KingdomKitchen was very poor.Whoever designed it didn’t! It was not designed to self cater. There was one socket for kettle, toaster , coffee machine and microwave.Insufficient crockery to use the dishwasher economically, need 2 sets of everything
Overall the property was very good , bedrooms and bathrooms good, great swimming pool and pretty good location

We had a great time in La Capannina di Matteo! The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable and had a nice terrace. Next to that the beds were comfortable and the pool was very clean and nice. Walking distance of good restaurants and a great bakery. We would definitely recommend to stay here. Employees Virginia and Isa were great, service was excellent, communication was very easy and really kind ladies.

PolandI can't really see anything
Very kind hosts, making sure you are OK on whatsapp regularly, yet completely not intrusive Very comfortable, very well equipped and a big apartment arranged in a traditional Tuscan style Two levels with a living space downstairs and bedrooms on the floor, two bathrooms! (We stayed in a double bedroom part) Very clean Beautiful garden with a swimming pool and other attractions (playground for kids, table tennis) Car parking behind a closed gate with a remote control for opening the gate available with the keys Quiet and peaceful town, great base to visit Florence, Siena or San Gimignano (each 30-40 minutes by car) Even though the weather in the first day, when I took the photos was cloudy, the place was still beautiful, as it is for you to see. In the sunshine it looks even better.

DenmarkToo much of a kids place, when you are travelling without kids and just seeking relaxation, then too much noise from kids jumping in and out of the pool. You are also close to the next door appartment, så can see and hear each other when each on your own terrasse.
Own appartment with own terrasse, own barbecue, own washing machine - own everything. Terrasse have both dining table and chairs but also sitting area. At the pool your own sunbeds. Towels and pool towels provided. Working distance to restaurants, and good location for daytrips. Nice Wine gift on arrival.
