Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesEmbarking on a journey to Syracuse, Sicily, we sought not just accommodation, but an experience infused with charm, comfort, and a taste of local hospitality. And in B&B Palazzo Giunta - Porta Marina Ortigia, we found all that and more. Nestled in the heart of this historic town, this enchanting establishment welcomed us with open arms, offering not just a place to rest our heads but a home away from home. From the moment we stepped through its doors, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and tranquility, where every detail spoke of care and attention. Our mornings began with the promise of delights as we made our way to the breakfast table. There, we were greeted by a feast for the senses - a beautifully served and exquisitely prepared breakfast that celebrated the flavors of Sicily. Each morning, Manuela and Giovanna with their infectious smile and genuine warmth, ensured that our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Their dedication to their craft and passion for hospitality shone through in every dish she served, elevating our stay to unforgettable heights. But beyond the culinary delights, it was the little touches that truly set B&B Palazzo Giunta apart. From the elegant decor that reflected the rich history of the region to the personalized recommendations that guided us through the streets of Syracuse, every moment spent within its walls felt like a privilege. For travelers seeking more than just a place to lay their heads, B&B Palazzo Giunta - Porta Marina Ortigia is an oasis of tranquility and charm in the heart of Syracuse. And with Manuela's and Giovanna's warm hospitality as the icing on the cake, it's a destination that promises memories to last a lifetime.

The location of this B&B is superb. Overlooking the marine if you have the balcony view and less than a 5 minute walk to the centre where it all happens. The room was very comfortable and the shower great! We did not have breakfast but was so well looked after by the staff who stayed late to let us arrive before 1.30 pm which was so kind. A truly lovely B&B to stay in.

United KingdomThe parking isn’t cheap. We were given a reduced rate but it was still about 25 euros a night which needs to be paid in cash. This is organised by the police and there’s nothing the hotel can do about it. It is convenient, and it is worth doing
Everything! The location. The room. The breakfast Wow!!! But most of all the staff. There were 2 different ladies taking it in turns to cover the desk and they were amazing. They explained everything to us, laughed with us, helped my with my Italian and made us feel very warm and welcome. Priceless!

ItalyNothing, everything was perfect!
One of the most beautiful terraces in Ortigia, perfect for admiring the sunset and enjoying the quiet of the island. The location is ideal, just 10 minutes away from every monument and point of interest in Ortigia. The room is equipped with all comforts, and the vintage furniture adds an incredible touch of beauty! Manu welcomed us warmly and assisted us during self check-in, providing us with all the information we needed. His kindness and welcoming smile were truly appreciated. Absolutely worth recommending!

The location is perfect, it the heart of Ortigia. The staff is extreamly friendly and helpful with recommendations for places to visit, where to eat, etc. The room is clean, spacious and has character. We especially liked the bathroom. I would recommend to book a room with a sea view, it is worth the experience. The breakfast is local and served with style.

What makes for a wonderful stay in a b&b are the who work and own the establishment. This was the case here. They were helpful, courteous, attentive and joyful. The breakfast server realized that my friend preferred a plain pastry and the next morning there was one for my partner. The owner is an exuberant young woman that talked about her life and joy of running her business. She was most helpful in getting our transportation squared away for next part of our tour through Sicily. The breakfast was outstanding and beautifully presented. A super place to stay. A very caring place!

AustraliaOnly downside is the main stairs that are narrow and steep. No lift. Ensure that you can carry your suitcase; that it is not too heavy. Luckily, my partner was able to carry my suitcase up; but it was a challenge even for him.
We booked the Romantic suite with private terrace. It was an amazing view. The room was spacious with furniture and decor that was generations old (very tasteful). Modern bathroom despite the old building. Breakfast served on the private terrace- amazing spread- quantity was too much though for the 2 of us (I felt bad for not finishing the food). You can walk all the island by foot. The room had two sets of doors for good wind and noise insulation.

AustraliaThe only thing that I didn't like and I'm not trying to be picky, but the pillows were so flat and soft and gave no support which made sleeping uncomfortable.
The location was excellent, close to all attractions and was in a quiet part of the town, the staff went out of their way to help and were very informative and friendly.
