Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe only weak point is a rubbish collection at 2am just under the windows that go to the street
It is a very nice aparthotel in the centre of Trieste. Easy to find, easy to park on the street. The personal is very kind and efficient. The apartment is nice and clean, the bed is comfortable. We have found a coffee powder in the kitchen and the coffee we made was really excellent.

IrelandBeing an old building, there are 2 sets of steps to come up before getting to the reception desk. The elevator stops in between the sets of steps which means a lot of dragging of suitcases. Not sure what they could do about it but it would not be great for elderly people as they don’t have a porter. Hotel does not have any restaurant, which we knew, so a small coffee/tea facility in the lobby waiting area would have been nice.
Location, size and comfort of the room.

GermanyThe aircon cannot be used in the end of May.. It is a bit hot in the room. The staff will call you if you still have not checked out at 10am. Even though it is supposed to be at 10:30am.
The room is very big, has one additional bed and a small kitchen. The room is also very quiet.

United StatesKitchen chairs very uncomfortable (but two soft chairs in living room area). Shower floor is slippery and has uncomfortable ridges. It is a very old building and furnishings are also aged and simple. Nothing “bad,” just know it is a bit worn (for instance, living space table wobbles, some hangers broken, closet door doesn’t close fully).
Location is great. Easy walk to center, to the seafront walk, to the train station, and to the cruise ship dock. Lots of good restaurants, bakery, tourist info, and a market close by. Room very sound proof, quiet with windows shut. Big space with lots of room for our suitcases and clothing, accessories. Kind reception employees. Easy check-in and out. Elevator for all but one half-flight of stairs. Kitchen has refrigerator and two burner stovetop.

Germanyyou have to be lucky with the parking in the street and prepared to pay for it. however, there’s a parking lot nearby that might be cheaper for a longer stay
in the very centre and close by to all attractions! cozy, typical Italian place, but more like a hostel. the room was old fashion but very comfy. the little kitchen had even a package of very good coffee so we could have a quick breakfast in the morning. we stayed one night and it was perfect

United StatesThe hallway upstairs could be better lit but this is minor.
Great location to sights, cafes, restaurants, markets, shopping. We had a big clean studio on the 5th floor. Kitchenette and bathroom facilities all worked. Quiet at night. We found street parking (metered) in front of the hotel. It’s a bit dated but a good value.

United KingdomThis was a strange stay for us as the property cancelled on us the day prior to our stay, only to reinstate us in another room later that day. This caused a lot of stress in the middle of our holiday. Maybe coincidence, maybe not, but this was also during Trieste's busiest period (Barcolana Regatta), so perhaps it was an attempt to get more for the room than we paid, or perhaps we it was just a coincidence. Either way, we will never know - but it wasn't pleasant. As for the room, it is generally good, but a little run down, most of the hangers for clothes were broken, random holes in the bathroom wall etc. Nothing too problematic though. The air conditioning was the biggest in room issue, as it was switched off despite it still being hot outside. The remote didn't work at all and we had no control over the temperature. You can ask at reception to turn it on, but that still doesn't give you any temperature control, and you have to wait til morning when reception opens again to turn it back off. It feels like they are trying to save money but instead, they actually end up having the opposite effect, whilst simultaneously cooking/freezing guests. So if you think you'll need air conditioning, stay elsewhere.
Despite the negatives below, once in the accommodation, the experience was generally positive. The apartment was very spacious and clean, we had a nice balcony, the bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. The aparthotel also provided a coffee making kit and a few other nice extras. Location was excellent for getting in and about Trieste, and even during the prime festivities of the regatta we weren't overly affected by noise.
