Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe so called Lake Views are falsely advertised as there is no view of the Lake from the room. Particularly given that we paid extra for the Lake view. Lacked basic facilities ( wg 1 roll of toilet paper for 5 days, no dish clothes, detergent, tea towels or soaps). These are basic things that you exoect and get in most appartments.
Room was good, patio outside was large and a good place to relax.

Germany- bathroom was very dirty when we moved in - there were no insect meshes on windows which is not good since there were lots of mosquitos (even during daylight) - our room was noisy since the walls were very thin. I was able to hear people talking next door very clearly.
- close to the Porlezza town center, - personal was very friendly, - great place for families with small kids and pets.

GermanyOur biggest issue was noise. The teenagers with dirtbikes (which are very loud) running up and down the streets late at night killed the vibe. The city needs to issue some kind of law to stop the noise after a certain time.
The location is right on the lake, it's a beautiful area. There were shops, cafes, and restaurants right at the location. It is close to many things to do and see. Great area for hiking, bike riding, and windsurfing! Very relaxing place.

NetherlandsThe beach in front of the terrain is not very clean and nor is the water on that spot. Might have something to do with the massive pipe which I incidentally discovered underneath the water. I'm not sure if something comes out but it had a 'dump' feel to it. Our kids got sick after a couple of days but that might have been from food as well. The complex seems not very well maintained with some unfinished buildings at the back. Overal it did not match the expectations which from the website pictures and description. Last but not least, it is mostly occupied by Dutch people (which are nice, just sharing some info).
The location itself is beautiful, with the view of the lake and the mountains. The village is close and has nice little restaurants and shops on the small charming streets.

Czech RepublicNot everyone likes loud music with a DJ every second night right under the balcony. The kitchen could be better equipped, we missed a kettle, more pots. The air conditioning did not work well at all.
We had booked a deluxe apartment, but we did not get the deluxe in any way – just a standard apartment. However, the large terrace was a great advantage as well as the lake view. That was perfect. We also appreciated the private beach just a few metres away and enjoyed swimming in the lake. The location is great and trips to the surrounding too.

GermanyApartment could have been better prepared - coffee machine had wrong plug for the outlets, but this was promptly remedied by the staff who provided us with an adapter. Aircon could have been a bit better, but it was adequate.
Location is perfect, was very quiet and shops are walking distance. The view from the beach was spectacular and the beach itself, although a bit stony was great.

SwitzerlandSince the property knew that we travel with 2 small kids and we exchanged a few messages, it would have been nice of them to inform us about the parties with loud music from the bar just underneath our balcony (speakers outside on the terrace). It went on until 11-12 in the evening 2 nights out of the 3 we stayed. They could have just suggested that we take a different room on the other side of the building.
Great location, the view on the lake is amazing.

United KingdomNo bikes available for children, so we weren’t able to make use of the generous offer of hiring bikes for free each day for two hours (1 adult, 3 children), which was something we had solidly planned on. Mattresses in kids‘ beds and sleep sofa were extremely uncomfortable, one bed made so much noise when turning over, that everyone else woke up.

CuraçaoWe stayed 3 nights with our two dogs. The location is beautifully situated at the border of lake Lugano with stunning views. Two remarks to take into account when booking this accomodation; the music from the outside bar dowstairs goes on until midnight which is something you shouldn’t be bothered by (or bring earplugs ;-); secondly the swimmingpool was closed and looked neglected for a while. Swimming however can be done in the lake right next to the building. Also take into account that the parc can be poluted after the weekend. But all these facts do not effect the good feeling you will get from staying here. Make sure you have a room with lake view!

NetherlandsThere were no bed instedad we found a sofa bed without mattres, just a two inches bed mat. Furthermore, there were no bedside tables neither nighstand lamps and the pillows were so old and terribly uncomfortable. Additionally, the fridge didn't work, no air conditioned and the apartament was really not well- cleaned. To sum up, it doesn't worth the price at all.
Nothing, the pictures in the ad do no reflect what they offer. We spent one terrible night and we had to book a hotel for the next days.

CanadaThere was a bad smell under the sink, management did nothing to solve this problem, when we let them know the next morning. The stove did not ignite, we had to go to the grocery store and buy a lightener to be able to use the stove. The floor in the living room was dirty. When we booked this property chose it, because of free parking and wifi. However, not all apartments have wifi, and neither did have ours (Mozart 6), which was a big disappointment. Read all fine print for your choice of accommodations. We were told, they each is equipped differently. There is a safety deposit you must pay in cash, 400 euros. If you don't have that on you, you can pay 25 euros insurance and then no need for safety deposit. The 400 euros safety deposit will only be refunded to you on check out. They will inspect your place and if confirm that there was no damage to the place where you stayed you will get your money back. We didn't want to figure out how long this would take (the property is huge), and agreed to pay the 25 euros insurance instead, which of course is non-refundable. Though there were towels in the bathroom, only 1 roll of toilet paper and no hand soap. The kitchen is equipped, but no sponge, dishwashing liquid or towels there to wash or dry the dishes. We felt that for the price we paid to stay in Mozart 6, there items should have been available for us. (CAD 828 + local tax + 25 euros insurance for 3 nights in August 2023).
We arrived late, but our host left our key in the lock box beside reception, so it was very convenient to get our key and the location of the apartment. We were assigned Mozart 6 to stay. There were lots of parking spaces. The main apartment is quite spacious, it had air conditioning. The kitchen had microwave, stove, fridge, all dishes and utensils for 4 people. The beach, restaurant on the property, playground was less than 5 minutes walk. Downtown is about a 10-15 minutes walk from Porto Letizia. There are grocery stores nearby, about 5-10 minutes drive. You can rent sunbeds for the beach and bicycles for the day at reception for free. Lugano and Menaggio are only about 30 minutes drive.

BelgiumWe did not get the room we booked, the property manager was arrogant and refused to help. Happy Rentals knew they gave us the wrong villa and just put us in an old, outdated, small villa that was nothing like the villa we paid for. After the property manager confirmed we did not get the villa we booked... he told me we had to wait until morning to resolve the matter. At 5 am he sent me directions to another villa and said the key was inside... when we woke up, we went there and it was locked. So we went to the reception where he said they never sent me that video even though it was on my phone and I even showed him it! He got angry and called happy rentals, and then said they would call me with a solution. In the meantime, they sent me a message on here telling me I got the 'catergory' I booked... I didn't book a category, I booked the villa in the pictures of the unit in my confirmation. It's a scam, the pictures on here look NOTHING like the property. There are abandoned buildings everywhere with trees growing out the roofs and the maze for kids to play is so overgrown... you would lose your kids in it! Don't waste your money here... book a reputable place and read ALL the reviews! We left after 1 day and found a legit property on the lake.
The location was nice on the lake and the restaurant food was really good. Other than that... forget it!
