Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaAll was great. These are few small things that wouldake this apartment better. Our window faced a bus terminal so a bit noisy but nothing we couldn’t handle. It would have been nice to have a nespresso machine in the room or sitting area to have a coffee in the morning. No fridge.
Fantastic location, gorgeous room, private and comfortable. Take elevator to 3rd floor (versus 6 flights of stairs). Large bottle of water with glasses was a nice touch.

South AfricaI liked everything in the room. Saturday night there was quite a lot of noise from the street, but not too bad.
The room was lovely. Excellent bed, beautiful antique furniture and nice bathroom. The view on a square from the window gave us a sense of being 'in the town'. We could look out at the people of Siena coming and going at the bus station but also had a view of lots of trees from the nearby park. I liked in particular the central room of the Residenza, beautifully furnished and with fresh flowers, and lots of light. The organic market outside on a Saturday morning is not to be missed.

United KingdomCar parking in Siena is difficult. The nearest car park for the apartment is Fortezza. We drove around a few times before finally finding a space. It’s also expensive- 44 euros for one and a half days. The room doesn’t have air conditioning so it would be uncomfortable in high season. As it was the end of September, we managed ok with the fan, although it was quite noisy. As previous reviews have mentioned, there is no fridge and no possibility for making tea and coffee which really lets the place down.
The room was on the top floor of a beautiful old building, situated on the main walking route into the historic centre. Luckily there was a lift adjacent to the apartment, so getting luggage up there wasn’t a problem. Our room was beautifully styled with Italian antique furniture and we also had access to a communal lounge which was styled in the same manor. Everything was sparklingly clean. The location was perfect for sightseeing and we had a pleasant couple of days.

United StatesCheck in was complicated as I hadn't received check-in instructions when we arrived and we were quite tired from travel.
Such a romantic and beautiful room! Amazing location in the heart of historic Siena. The room is large, comfortable, and clean, and has so many elegant touches. Great value.

AustraliaNo air conditioning, however a fan is provided and in the evenings it was cool and you can air the room out. This wouldn’t deter me from staying again at this time of year. The pillows were a bit thin for my liking, however on request the host provided me an additional pillow which improved my sleep.
It provided a beautiful historic and elegant feel to my trip. The bed, the furniture, the light fittings. It was also a good location, close to the train station and close to explore the rest of Siena. I also felt safe.

United KingdomBeautiful room, lovely big windows to help cool the room down. Fan in the room to compensate for no air con. Lovely owner who was very accommodating and friendly. It's situated very close to the main bus stop which was helpful for day trips. It's a little walk from the train station, about twenty minutes, but quite a straight route through the shopping centre opposite the train station and through the main streets of Siena.

AustraliaIt was fairly expensive, and the check-in experience was difficult as none of us had WhatsApp.
Two nights in Siena as a rest day on the Via Francigena. Location was excellent, almost in the centre of the city. The small rooms off the large living area allowed a little extra comfort.

United StatesNo breakfast, but the price is right!
No breakfast, but we had four bedrooms with a common area on the same floor. It’s a beautiful facility with private bath in each bedroom. The windows overlook the piazza and it’s very close proximity to shopping, Piazza del Campo and the Duomo! We love it there!

AustraliaNo tea and coffee facilities, fridge, etc. just a bedroom and private bathroom.
Fantastic location - quiet spot but close to the bus platforms so you don’t need to carry your bags for miles (but still only a short walk to the middle of town and all the action). There is a shared living room area for relaxing. There seem to be 3 rooms in total - it would be a great spot for two or three couples travelling together.
