Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt would have been helpful if there was a small sign on the main road indicating the turn into the majestic entrance into the property.
Excellent location with the view of the Duomo at poolside in the midst of an olive grove. Facility was clean and the host was warm, friendly and attentive. It was a wonderful, relaxing experience having breakfast under the flowering vines.

United StatesThe place could use a little more attention to detail and decoration to make it warmer and more cozy, but then again that would make it 2x more expensive. There's no breakfast option so it didn't quite feel like a complete experience. To get your cappucino you gotta drive 10 minutes.
Giulio the owner and host was so kind and helpful. He made great suggestions about restaurants. The bed was new and the most comfortable of all the 6 places we stayed in Italy (a good bed is very important when you're traveling). The property is simply gorgeous, perched on the top of a hill with a complete view of Orvieto. The buildings are grand old stone dwellings, making you feel like you've landed in another time. It's a little primitive and not elaborate or showy, but that's partly what made it feel like an authentic "find".

The property is stunning and staff is SO above-and-beyond accommodating. Hotel manager set us up with rides into town, coffee and croissants each morning and provided us with excellent restaurant and drink recommendations.

JapanThe grounds of the Villa were beautiful with a spectacular view of Orvieto. The room was spacious, very clean, and well equipped: we appreciated the beautiful view, AC, and the modern smart TV setup. The host Giulio was helpful and friendly, and thanks to his tips we could arrange a couple of great meals and experiences in the area. The pool area was also fantastic: each room had a dedicated parasol and lounge chairs, and we could enjoy the fresh Italian breakfast there.

United StatesThe beautiful Villa is a working olive ranch. It is centrally located to explore the Umbria region. The grounds are beautiful and it has a spectacular view of Orvieto. Giulio is wonderful host, and was kind enough to share his expertise of the area. Each morning, a simple but delicious breakfast was served in our room. I highly recommend a stay at Villa Monteporzano.

United StatesBreakfast is limited and kitchen needs additional basic supplies to be useful.
On the near horizon you can see the elevated town of Orvieto, with its sky-high cathedral. Your apartment is located on the grand, old estate of a prominent local family. Your host, Giulio, is eager to help you in any way he can, including restaurant reservations, directions or where to buy groceries.

CanadaMy wife and I stayed 3 nights at Villa Monteporzano. Guilio was an excellent host and was always available. He helped us with our laundry and booked all of our evening meals which were exceptional. The Villa has an amazing view of Orvieto and we were treated to some amazing sunsets. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Thanks Guilio.

BelgiumThe only downside was that the second room in the apartment was connected to the main room, so access to the two bathrooms was only possible through the main room. However, given the structure of the apartment, I don’t think anything can be done to change this. Some more constructive suggestions would be having tables outside for breakfast to enjoy the space outdoors more. It would also be nice to have a bar for drinks near the pool or even a restaurant where clients can eat (I understand this is actually WIP). That said, Giulio gave us some excellent tips for restaurants within a 15 minute drive. For eco-friendly purposes, it might also be worth considering replacing the paper/plastic plates/cutlery in the breakfast basket with glass/ceramic ones.
We stayed at the villa only two nights and would have loved to stay longer! We loved the relaxing and beautiful location in the countryside, overlooking Orvieto. The villa has a large swimming pool surrounded by olive trees and with designated sun beds and parasol. The apartment was very spacious. Giulio was absolutely wonderful and gave us the best tips for restaurants in the area.

NetherlandsKitchen equipment was a little out dated, no water boiler available but heat water with non-isolated pans, (this had to do with the will to deliver clean water cookers and the chalk in the water which made water boilers not completely clean), no salon table in the living room so you had to put everything on the floor.
Very spacious apartment with stunning view from the apartment terrace and from the swimmingpool on Orvieto and it’s cathedral, amidst the olive trees. Host Giulio very nice, welcoming host who told us story from the old villa, the buildings and his family. Gave us a good address to eat. If there was something stuck it was solved soon, if possible. Openness towards possible improvements.
