How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing. Wished we could have stayed longer!
The apartment was fantastic. The living area and kitchen were open and spacious and we loved the stone walls. The bedrooms were large as well and beds very comfortable. The location was very good, right on the Piazza Cavana which is walking distance to all the sites as well as many, many restaurants. It is on a pedestrian only street. The apartment was very quiet considering the lively night life right below us due to the air conditioning and good double pane windows. Also the coffee shop on the ground level was excellent.

this is a great spot but it’s noisy. for the most part it’s well controlled by the windows and doors, but ear plugs are necessary if you’re not into partying until the wee hours. we loved the energy of the area but not when we wanted to sleep. however, I’m sure I’d book it again anyway. the property can’t do anything about the noice. just be aware that it’s vibrant in the evenings.
very large, spacious, apartment close to the main piazza. nice location and surrounded by amazing restaurants.

Not a complaint just something to be aware of ….. Being in a pedestrian zone getting the luggage to the property meant carrying it. A hint, I dropped off the bags (and family) on a corner (near some garbage bins and a sign for Urban Hotel) and then headed to the parking station about 300m further away. The walk to the Ritter Apartments was about 100m but the reward was a lift (not just stairs) up to a beautiful apartment.
Location was excellent (on a small piazza in a pedestrian zone) with a very short walk to the main square. Cafes directly downstairs (for breakfast) and just around the corner for drinks and dinner (simple well priced food away from the cruise ships). Excellent spacious apartment (5 people family) with a lift.

There was not like this.
The staff was very kindly and I got reply to my every question immediately. The owner gave a lot of useful information about the location and the details of the accomodation in advance. The location is fantastic, we could manage parking very good in thanks to the nearby parking garage.

Too noisy diring the night, many bars under the apartment, good for few nights

It’s noisy from the bars till late at night, but that’s expected when staying in this lively part of Trieste.

Even though the beds are great you might miss out on your sleep - some rooms can be very loud until the bars in the streets close late at night.

The location is perfect … very central and easy to walk to all of the points of interest. The apartment is spotlessly clean and well equipped for self catering.

We liked everything but the only thing was the pillows. It was quite high. Would prefer a choice of higher and lower ones for different people.

I would suggest to improve the decor of the apartment hanging some pictures as it was really bare bone. Also a washing machine would be ideal for longer stays (also it's ready to be installed). Unfortunately there was quite a lot of noise during the weekends as our apartment was facing the square and despite the double glazing the noise and music from the bars downstairs was quite loud. The main issue for us was the mattresses which were way too firm. Also other guests came across the same issue. I would suggest to use a memory foam topper to make it more comfortable.
We stayed in Trieste for our wedding, staff at reception was super nice. They also gave a lovely present the day of the wedding. Nice classy touch that was really appreciated. Our double bed apartment was very big and bright located in a pedestrian area just 2 minutes walk from Piazza Unità. Parking was easy as there is a public car park just 2 minutes away (you can pay using EasyPark app) which is free from 8PM until 8AM and on Sundays or there is a covered private parking which is with more expensive but you also have a 15% discount when staying at Ritter's.
