Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot a dislike as such just a note so others are aware, the second bedroom is above the kitchen, it has a couple of low beams as you walk up and also you need to step over a beam at the right side of the bed to access the room. As one of our party is 6 foot 5, that ruled them staying up there and those that did use that bedroom had to be careful.
The location of this apartment is fantastic, we walked everywhere during our stay and loved being so close to river for a stroll. The apartment itself is really comfortable, we couldn't get the tv to work but we didn't intend to lounge inside during our trip so it didn't bother us too much. Guido was a perfect host, he took the time to meet us at the apartment (despite a few travel hiccups with delays etc), and he gave us an overview of the facilities and local area. Guido also provided a map for us to use and was super friendly.

AustraliaThere were 80 steps to the apartment - which was fine for us but was a struggle lugging our heavy baggage and ski's/snowboards. The apartment didn't provide basic cooking things like salt, pepper, oil etc. there were a few things in the pantry but they were suspect - salty sugar etc. Not enough glasses and knives for four people. You can't stand up in the loft - so not comfortable for tall people. In general, the property needs maintenance. Curtain rails detaching from the walls, toilet flush fell off the wall during our stay, crockery and glassware insuffiicent for four people, television not plugged in properly etc.
Location was amazing - right on the edge of the Ghetto and close walking distance to most major sights and the best eating district in Rome. Building was beautiful, full of character. Kitchen was reasonably well provisioned.

CanadaBe aware that there are around 70-80 stairs from street level to the unit. It was fine for us, but something to be aware of with small children or for those with walking challenges.
A unique space that accommodated our family of 4. The location is close to restaurants, transit, and Trestavere is easily walkable.

Canada70 stairs to the top floor was difficult for my 70 year old father, and the water sprayed at us, because the aerators were removed from the faucets. The shower head was also broken.
The location is phenomenal, close to all the attractions you’d want to see out of Rome, and easy to get to the ones that are at a distance.

New ZealandNeeds some minor maintenance , a few things were broken and need repairing . Shower head needs descaling , plug needs cap put back etc. No power points in kitchen for several appliances that sat on bench . Couldn’t get tv working ( but that may be just us) Bed upstairs on mezzanine moved every time some turned over according to our friends who slept in it !
Really quirky ‘industrial style’ apartment in beautiful old building in very good location . Some really interesting details in the apartment . Plenty of space for the 4 of us and well equipped

AustraliaProperty needs quite a bit of general maintenance and upgrades and a good clean. We had to clean the air conditioner filters as were very dirty which impaired their function on very hot summer days. If you don’t want to do stairs this property isn’t for you! Loft bedroom a bit challenging
Location and character of the centuries old building, staff were helpful with information about restaurants and attractions near by

United KingdomAlthough the decor was nice, some things were in real need of an upgrade. Cleaning of certain areas - kitchen sink, shower area, toilet - could have been better. I bought some bleach spray and the kitchen sink came up much cleaner than when we arrived. Tall people need to watch their heads on low beams but that was part of the charm and authenticity of the building. The main cause of concern was a cut in power (probably due to me trying to use the dishwasher while other things were also in use). I'm presuming this, as we were not told that this might happen. Although Guido answered very quickly when we messaged him, the procedure to get electricity back on was worrying and verging on dangerous. The master power cupboard for the entire building had to be located, opened and the appropriate switch flicked up again. When my husband had gone down to do this, 2 bikes were in front of this cupboard (which he had to move). Although this solved the issue, I don't feel guests should have to do this (risking, among other things, flicking the wrong switch etc). If lots of electrical items can't be on at once, this should also be mentioned to guests (to avoid this issue occurring).
Great location. Property manager was helpful and responsive. Nice decor. Authentic, historic building.

United KingdomHead height for the room upstairs wasn’t really suitable for someone 6ft 4. We obviously didn’t fully read the details so our own fault.
Great location, easy walking distance to everything. Great host explained all the main places to visit and restaurants. Safe and secure.

MaltaAs with any listed historical building there is no lift and access to elderly travelers or travelers with heavy luggage may be an issue. Caution must also be taken for anyone using the upper bedroom as beams do get in the way.
A incredible property in the historic heart of Rome. Closer to the Jewish quarter than Piazza Navona but still a stone’s throw away from any attraction. The property is a beautifully renovated loft in a historic palazzo and is complete with all amenities.

GreeceClimbing many stairs for the apartment (and inside) is not for everyone, definitely could do with less. It was cleaned but you could see there were some permanent stains in some places. In order to get to the upper room you have to climb over a wooden beam which was inconvenient and kind of dangerous.
The location was excellent. It had everything we needed for a 2-night stay. The air conditioning in every room really helped with the heat. The communication with the host was good and they replied very quickly.

United KingdomLoft bedroom! Ceiling too low in room and on staircase access. Constantly banging head. All metal doors and frames were noisy, bathroom door had to be banged shut so disturbed sleep for others. Kitchen's strange design meant kettle and toaster had to be plugged in and used in a tiny space under the staircase.
Great location for easy walking to the main sites of Rome. Lovely old building. Greeted by lovely man who was friendly and helpful.
