Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyCompared to other luxury suits we’ve been, here you had to pay for every service (i.e. nothing is included). Worth considering a slightly higher price per night BUT making guests feeling in a luxury “all inclusive” offering as opposed to letting them pay for every bits of service

AustraliaCan’t think of anything.
Don’t be fooled by the exterior of the Royal Palace Hotel; inside the grey walls is a magnificently updated palace with impressive staircase, frescoes, mosaic floors and spacious accomodation including bathroom and the most comfortable huge bed. A major domo met and indeed anticipated our every need. Plus, situated in the centre of the city we could reach every major sight on foot. I highly recommend this hotel priced most reasonably.

ItalyOur room was on the street side so very noisy till 1 am in the night as there are 2 restaurants downstairs. Not sure the windows are equipped with double layers of glass. Also, the check-in took place in another location; not too far from the Royal Palace Suites but at this level of price, you are expecting the checkin to take place at the right location.
The location of the hotel is great, very centre. Also, our butler was very nice and very helpful. The room ver spacious and beverages of the mini bar offered free of charge (except champagne).

FinlandWe got the second floor room which was straight on top of a street bar. Unfortunately there was absolutely no soundproofing in the old windows and it felt like we were sleeping next to the bar. Couldn’t sleep until 2am, so we needed to address this with the hotel. They took it seriously and relocated us to the “main” hotel where the breakfast is. This was OK with us although the new room was a bit less grandeau compared to the Royal Palace.
The location was superb and the building extremely beautiful. Staff was also very helpful and knew how to make the visitor feel special.

SwitzerlandThe breakfast was honestly deplorable: it was the worst breakfast I ever saw in a hotel. Two or three dried croissants, frozen bread, one type of cheese and that was basically it - sad excuse for a breakfast, specially in a 5* hotel. Also, we stayed in one of the suites, which is confusing when you arrive because the suites are part of a hotel that has a different name, so you have to check in and then you have to cross the street to go to your room and to the lobby and vice versa.
The room is beautiful, with frescos and with a prime location. The staff was very nice and attentive, specially our butler and the front desk employees.

QatarThe electric sockets next to the bed where not European. Only the ones outside. The breakfast area there should be separate labeled spoons for the food as the same spoons used for the cheese where used for the bacon and cold cuts. But staff was super helpful!

United Kingdomthere is nothing to dislike. Staff are professional, yet caring. Maybe some milk in the suites for those of us non-Italians.
We booked a junior suite for our wedding anniversary and reception made it up to a one bedroom suite, which was really appreciated. The suites are stunning and well maintained. With the hotel very close by for breakfast and the most excellent bistro. all to love, nothing to dislike.

Italy1. It is not a hotel. They are some rooms in an apartment. Given that it advertises as "Royal Palace Hotel" we were not expecting this. Actually we were misled. 2. It was not clean: we found a chocolate wrap on the floor. The bed table was dusty. The shutters were incredibly dirty. 3. The room is advertised as a "suite" but it is just a room. 4. It is advertised as a 5 star hotel but it isn't: it looks like a 4 star hotel (best case scenario) with some elements of a 2 star hotel. In particular, the curtains are made of plastic. The quality of the furniture of of lightning is poor as is the decoration in general: a very sad place. 5. The maintenance level is is poor: one lamp is broken. Above the bed there is a glass fence that is broken and out of its axis (though it does not look dangerous): it just has not been replaced. The handle of a door remained in my hand when I tried to open it. The chairs are shaky. 6. The room is noisy and with no view. We paid 690 euros for one night (with breakfast excluded and no hotel service that we could see). We very much enjoyed Turin notwithstanding this sad, terrible hotel.
The hotel was in a good location. The bed was sufficiently large. There was a good pillow. The ceiling was high. The public entrance to the building was beautiful.
