How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nothing, it was perfect
The pool area was lovely with a view of the sea. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Loved our stay

The service in the breakfast was extremely poor despite many staff attending . They sound untrained nor concerned. There was disparity between staff members everywhere in the hotel and those serving the breakfast.

Waiters are very nice if you don’t understand European waiters you could get offended .😀
Its history and as it is over 159 years old they have maintained the elegance of the time whilst keeping it modern at the same time and the beautiful wide corridors of another age but no smells at all. Cleaning staff and reception staff all excellent and welcoming - Pedro the very smart doorman always helpful.

The bar is too expensive compared to what it offers.
Uncomprosing service orietnation, very nice and warm staff, so many through-through details in hte room. True Grand Hotel.

Everything was fine. According to our expectations. I can imagine that younger generation may find the hotel on the old side.
Off season for the pool. Under reconstruction! Great breakfast with plenty of options and quality! The room was fine. A bit on the old side but we expected that much. This is a classic "old"style Italian hotel. We were happy)

There was nothing that we did not like about our stay at the hotel..
The outdoor evening dining experience was very enjoyable. Breakfasts which included a wide range of choices were excellent. The room was very comfortable and the view was what we hoped for.

We had a very romantic dinner outdoor, then when the food came we knew that this place is a very high standard by all means. I don’t want to forget the very kind and welcoming staff. This hotel is a must to visit.
If you have a classic taste then this is your place. The hotel is a masterpiece, we enjoyed our time and planning to visit again.

Our one and only slight disappointment was the mattress, which was too soft for our taste.
We love the hotel, the location, the rooms, the breakfast and the garden.

The hotel has a great location and the facilities are excellent. We did not dine in the hotel but the bar is great. Breakfasts are superb. The best thing about the property is the staff - they are friendly, helpful and there are so many of them! This is a beautiful traditional hotel where service is excellent and the grandeur impressive. If you like marble and columns old fashioned luxury and to be cossetted - then this is the place for you...

Rooms don’t have a bath and showers have overhead waterfall heads which means you always get your hair wet. Hand held attachment isn’t positioned so that you can use as a lower height shower. No dressing table with mirror which means you have to stand in bathroom for hair and makeup. Service in restaurant was amazing but unfortunately food was very average and quite pricey, as are drinks (€20 for an aperol spritz)
Beautiful hotel with amazing views out to sea. Staff were incredible and absolutely made our stay. Breakfast was lovely sitting out on patio - would have loved dinner there as well but unfortunately weather did not allow. We received a room upgrade on arrival which is always a nice touch. San Remo is a lovely town and definitely worth a visit.

Overall we thought the property was worthy of a 5 star rating, however we didn’t think that the service we had was truly good value for the money we paid. Breakfast was a little chaotic.
Very good location. Good sea water swimming pool. Staff were excellent and knowledgeable. Excellent parking facilities.
