Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsEverything is a bit old-fashioned, room, shower, and bed could use an upgrade. Still, it's good value for money. They also could provide more free towels, for example for the spa. The room is quite small.
I liked that it was quiet and the staff was hospitable. The hotel is quite old-fashioned and brought me nostalgia to holidays as a kid. It had a great, clean pool area with snack bar where you can order lunch and a spa. A lot of elderly people seem to come here to relax. Breakfast was great!

United KingdomNothing! Was really happy and would stay again. Would only say, be prepared to walk quite a bit, but there's plenty of buses and the hotel offer a shuttle service but we didn't use it and were happy to walk into town/beach/bus stop.
Really nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. The pool is great, shallow area for kids, plenty of sunbeds and a snack bar, all set in beautiful gardens. The pool water is thermal so you have to wear a swim hat but that's not a problem. Easily purchased at reception. We had some delicious food at the snack bar, gnocchi and bruschetta. We liked the indoor thermal pool too, lovely and relaxing on a rainy day that we had! Breakfast was always plentiful with a large selection of foods, we loved the cakes! I would recommend this hotel and would stay again for sure.

SwitzerlandCoffee at breakfast was bizarrely bad. The free WiFi never really worked.
Loved the pool and spa area! My room was quiet and comfortable, with a comfortable bed, selection of pillows and pleasant air conditioning. There is a small refrigerator/ mini bar that is restocked with bottled water daily, for a charge. Appreciated the free shuttle service to the hotel’s private little beach club and also has a snack bar. Had a fantastic lunch at the pool with a delicious scialatielli pasta with mussels. Location is good, within a reasonable walking distance of Ischia Porto center and the beaches.

United KingdomThe hotel is quite dated in decor, although this gives it some charm. The air con seemed very old and wasn't good for my sinuses! We were told at check-in that we had to wear a cap in the pool, so we bought 2 caps from reception. But many people didn't wear caps and no one was checking, or just wore shower caps which are free in the room! I did think it was a little expensive but I think at this time of year on Ischia it is just what you pay.
Breakfast was great, the pastries were particularly delicious - always fresh and with a different selection every day. The staff were attentive and helpful, and gave us lots. of useful information at check-in. We asked to change rooms as our first room didn't have a view from the balcony, and staff were helpful and the next day we were able to move to a room with a great view for the rest of our stay. Pool area is nice and relaxing. The location is a little out of town but only about a 10-minute walk to the closest beach and the restaurants and bars at Ischia Ponte area.

SwedenThe termal spa was disappointing, no staff to even ask for a towel, and it was dirty. Also if you dont pay ahead for halfboard you cant eat dinner at the restaurant which they didnt inform about ahead. The singlebed was very small and the cleaning was not good, specially the bathroom.
Nice pool and the joining bar served everything from drinks, icecream, lighter food, fruits... 10 mins walk to a good beach and lovely restaurants by the iconic castelle argonese. Helpfull staff in reception and the bar.

ItalyRoom was very confined, the mattress stiff. The shower box needs renovation: two separate taps for hot and cold water, no mixer - hadn't seen any of those in a while! Breakfast not up to the standard you'd expect from a four star hotel.
Good location and outdoor facilities. Friendly and helpful staff - particularly the receptionists.

United KingdomCheck out too early at 10 am - rather mean and unusual in Italy, where it’s usually 11 am or midday. At breakfast there were lots of signs telling people not to take any food away, while in the outside seating area signs tell us that consuming any food or drink not bought in the hotel in is strictly forbidden by “the direction” ( I think they mean the management!)

IndonesiaThe pool was sadly super warm, almost hot and not refreshing at all. Just hot water in the showers of the spa area. The air-conditioning in the room so loud that I had to turn it off so I could sleep ad the room heated up super quickly. Very thin walls through which you can hear the TV running of the room next door.
The location is nice - 10 mins walk to the beach, which was super crowded in high season, but still nice, 10mins walk to really good restaurants also. A lot of sunchairs to relax on by the pool. Breakfast was tasty, could have a couple more healthy options though. Polite staff

United StatesThe staff valued procedure over prudence. I came in visibly overheated and tired, and the desk worker insisted that I wait for her English-speaking colleague (who was currently tied up in a long phone conversation) so that he could explain the facilities. I speak a little bit of Italian, but I can understand far more than I can say, so this was completely unnecessary. More importantly, the explanation consisted of him reading off of a book of hotel services that he ultimately gave me a copy of. I'm foreign, not illiterate. The next morning, I was deterred from the breakfast that was included in the cost of my room. The server shooed me away from the table that I tried to sit at. When she heard my American accent when I responded in Italian, she said, "bed and breakfast" in English and pointed to the other side of the room like I was a dog. After being publicly humiliated in this way, I simply left.
The room was very clean and the air conditioning worked very well. I had booked a room with a twin bed, and my room had a double bed, which was a welcome upgrade.

IrelandStaff at pool bar were rude, mocking me as i didnt speak Italian, very unprofessional. Used to dealing with only Italian guests so not used to dealing with non Italian speaking guests. Waiters in restaurant look very overworked and burnt out which is sad. Pool is not as nice as in photos. Room was very small and air con was not effective. Breakfast was very poor, very basic.
