How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There were no such things.
We had a wonderful time in Catania. Nello is a very nice owner who waited for us in the apartment. He helped us a lot with getting to the airport at night. The apartment is equipped with everything needed for everyday functioning. We highly recommend it. The best pizzeria in "Volu",we have never eaten such pizza before. If you are looking for a good local restaurant with local and cheap food, we recommend "U Sapuritu". Delicious food, large portions and really affordable prices.

The noise from the building construction in front, starting at 7:30 every morning.
The apartment is very close to the main street Via Etnea. The host Nello is very welcoming, he helped us with everything we needed. The apartment is small, appropriate for two people, extremely clean and excellent equipped with everything that can make your stay perfect. Strongly recommend that place for your stay in Catania.

Lovely welcome. They were happy to help us with our plans. The apartment was absolutely clean. We had everything we needed. Good location, centre was really close, bus station is 5 mins walk. These were important to us as we have a child. We really enjoyed our time there. Definitely recommend!

The street was a little dirty but not an isuue
The host was nice and helpful and gave us advice about the city, recomend good restaurants. He is always available and answear really quick to messages. The location was great, close to the city center (old town), restaurant and most of the attractions. It's a really clean apartment, they have everything you need and more.

The apartment is just like in the photos. In the bottom floor you have a fully equipped kitchen, dining table, a couch and a bathroom with a very spacious shower. A couple of narrow steps lead to the sleeping area with a large and comfortable bed. The whole place was impeccably clean and is very appropriate for longer stays since it also includes a washing machine. Nello greeted us with a bottle of cold water, lemonade and a basket of other goodies which was a very pleasent surprise after a long bus ride. He also helped us with directions and the choice of bus to Taormina and was very responsive throughout our stay. The apartment is only 3 minutes from Via Etnea, the most prominent street in Catania, and you can reach the historic centre in about 20 minutes alltogether. 10/10 would recommend.

The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful( the studio is supplied with everything you would need, the location is great, the bed is very comfortable, overall - this is a great choice! Keep in mind the bed is upstairs.

The only thing was that i could be a little loud on the streets.
The hospitality was amazing. The location is central. Everything is on a walking distance. The facilities were all present.

Everything about this house was perfect! It was immaculate and everything was in place! Francesca is such a wonderful host! Very helpful and informative. She even texted me one night to make sure everything was ok and gave a restaurant recommendation. The place is close to everything and there's a parking garage nearby for a fee. Francesca told me a lower rate than what the garage actually charged and she paid for the difference! If I go back to Catania, will definitely stay here again.

A little noisy if you're not used to living in the city center, but totally insignificant compared to all the other positive aspects, because it was also nice to stay in the center and have everything we needed nearby.
The hosts were very kind and helped us with all the information we needed, the apartment was very clean and cozy. We felt like home and if we will return to Catania, this will be our no 1 choice.

It would be particularly difficult to surpass the level of service offered by Nello and Francesca. The flat was spotless, fully furnished for a week-long stay, decorated with taste, and came with a welcome basket (coffee, biscuits) which proved really helpful when we arrived late at night. Nello and Francesca were also available to help us with tips on where to dine & wine in the neighborhood, on how to reach the local market or the beach. Perfect hosts for our first time visiting Catania. Thank you.

The breakfast was not included in the booking but when I got there an assortment of sweet breakfast snaks were waiting for me. The apartment was the best one I have ever stayed in and I honestly think it was the highlight od my stay in Catania!

Super clean. Very comfortable beds. Very nice and helpful host. Awesome and big room on two levels. The fully equipped kitchen. TV with Netflix account. Good location. Very nice and new bathroom. I definitely recommend this place

Narrow street for driving/parking (typical for Catania).
