Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Our stay at Eleonora's was absolutely fantastic! Eleonora is a wonderful host, she advised us on where to go and what to see and gave us a map and some great tips on how to do the different hikes and where to go to eat. She was always available on WhatsApp whenever we needed help and she let us leave our luggage in the room a little longer after check out so we could go have a late breakfast. The room was super cosy and very clean, we had everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom modern and spacious and the fridge, coffee machine and coffee capsules a great bonus. The view of the village and sea from the terrace was awesome and the pretty little garden up the stairs was lovely. We loved coming back in the evenings after a long day hiking and exploring. Corniglia ended up being our favourite village, it's location in the middle of the five and it's peaceful nature was a perfect base for many hiking trails. Thank you so much Eleonora! We really hope we get to come back again someday!😊

United KingdomAlthough it is wonderful to hear church bells, all night long is a bit much, especially if you were the one sleeping on the second floor.
It was definitely a less busy place, we wanted a quiet location. It was a lovely walk up the many steps from the train station. If you found it too hot or you just didn't want to do the climb there was a bus that ran frequently to the village square. The local people were friendly, especially the couple who ran the wee supermarket in the square. Our accommodation was easy to find as our host was excellent in her communications.

CanadaThe only things I would have changed (and none of these would prevent me from staying again) are that the pillows are pretty awful, kind of like folded up blankets, and that one week is a long time without any housekeeping/the garbages being emptied. It also would have been great to have some dish soap and a dish cloth (there’s a tea towel, but no cloth) to better wash out the jug for the cappuccino maker and to wash the provided mugs/dishes.
Eleonara was so lovely, and this room in her guest house was fantastic. The bed was comfy, the little fridge and cappuccino maker made having breakfast in very easy. And the views were phenomenal. Highly recommend staying there!

United KingdomCorniglia is basically built on the side of a cliff and is absolutely gorgeous, but has slopes and stairs in every direction, so if you're not up for the exercise this is probably not for you. The train station has 360+ steps to ascend to get to the village, but there is a bus for the very short vertical ride! We loved it here and were fascinated by the villages winding alleyways . Make sure that you know where the apartment is before you set off with your bags, it is easy to get lost and everywhere is up or down a slope / set of steps!
Our stay at Sole Terra Mare was superb and our hostess Eleanor was a most charming and helpful lady. She made our stay here as enjoyable as possible. The apartment was very well equipped for your needs and cooking was easily done. The sea view from the balcony has to be seen to be thoroughly appreciated. We would recommend Corniglia and the Sole Terra Mare to anyone and will tell our friends and family to go there!

RomaniaThis is not a critique but some piece of helpful information. I do not recommend this room to people who have problems with their feet, especially with their knees or people who are not allowed to do physical effort. You need to climb but more difficult, to descend few (10, more or less)very steep stairs after some more steps from the center. But Cinqueterre means steps anyway so if you are already here, you know that. The only window of the room is that of the door which is facing the terrace and the end of the wall of the neighbor building. It makes it a little darker, as you see in my picture, but this can be an advantage in the hot sunny days. The room has air conditioning that works very well, don't worry! We were not bothered by this aspect. For the bathroom we had towels enough for 3 nights but only one recipient of soap so bring your own shampoo and shower gel. In order to watch the sea you can sit on the terrace in front of the room but you need to get out the chairs from inside, without a table. The terrace furniture you will see belongs to the neighbors and is forbidden to be used. There is a possibility to eat your own food on a kind of terrace but you need to climb few more steps and the view of the sea is obturated by a roof, so we didn't use it at all. Conclusion: small inconveniences for this very well located room, the nice host and the good quality/price.
Corniglia. Comparing with the other 4 villages it is the best to accommodate here being not so crowded with tourists, indeed. Mrs. Eleonora, our host, was very nice and helpful. The room has a central location, close to everything you need. The parking spot is at aprox. 300 m, in a kind of garden and Mrs. Eleonora gave us exact location on Whatsapp and even a little video with how to access it which was cool. It was easy to find. It is a room with a coffee machine, coffee provided by the host (thank you!) and few dishes, it is not an apartment with a kitchen where you can cook but this is clear from the description. For a coffee and a croissant I recommend Er Posu Cafe on Via Fieschi 52. We had our dinner every evening at Cecio Restaurant on Via Serra 58 which is close and has a wonderful terrace facing the sea but there are many other nice places where to eat, have a coffee, cake or a drink. What we appreciated most is the quality/price. We payed 222 euros for 3 nights, parking included, in July!. Our host also sold us Cinqueterre card that we used for train, with a little discount and it was very good. It was 30 euro/person for 2 days, instead of 33. With this card, visiting the other villages is very easy and flexible. And the access to train station is easy by the shuttle which has only 2 stops, at the train station and up, in the center. The journey lasts few minutes and costs 2.50 euro/person, one way. The other option is by the stairs, 382 steps of Lardarina! Conclusion: a very good place to stay and enjoy Cinqueterre.

NetherlandsThe apartment of Eleonora was just perfect! The design of the furniture is simple and tasteful, really in accordance with the old house that it is. The ambiance of the house is really nice. We stayed in the apartment Mare and the view from the nice and small balcony is beautiful. Also the location is perfect, just 2 steps away from the rest of the town, so very quiet. Apart of this, Eleonora is a wonderful host, who also helps you with other things in Cinque Terre, like the tickets for the footpath or train.

Very nice rom/apartment with all you need to sleep, shower and make light meals. The room was rather dark but fortunately the weather was sunny so we could spend the time in the garden or right outside the room where there was furniture. The apartment is perfect for visiting Cinque Terre, and Corniglia was the less turisted city of the 5, which we liked very much. The owner was very kind and helpful with getting tickets to the park, train etc. And our dog was very welcome aswell :-)
