How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The apartment was as described.
Spacious, clean, well equipped, good bed and quiet even though located right in the center of the bar/restaurant action. Our host Diana was exceptional - very knowledgeable about the city with sensitive restaurant recommendations and reservations - and going far out of her way in making arrangements including for our trip to the airport at reasonable cost.

Every question or remark we had was solved quickly with the hosts. So, nothing worth mentioning here.
Our hosts were great! They have been helpful regarding all the questions we had: parking, traffic, restaurants, recommendations, etc. San Nicolò suites are located perfectly. Close to sea, sights, restaurants, bars. And is located in a fairly quiet street in a pedestrian area. If we visit Trieste again, we'll definitely consider San Nicolò suites first.

Not a thing!
Such a well appointed apartment! We were very comfortable and Diana was an incredible host! I broke my foot and Diana even went to the store to purchase crutches for me and brought them to the apartment. She could not have been any kinder and helpful with everything!

The bars downstairs are very lively. Great for aperitivo but the party goes on all night. You cannot open the windows to sleep but closed they are almost soundproof.
It was very spacious. The location is very central and convenient.

As great as the central location was, the apartment is above some quite loud bars (particularly on Friday and Sat night). We were able to sleep through the noise but light sleepers may not. The sofa has also probably seen better days, but only a very minor issue.
The apartment was clean and modern - with good bathroom- and very centrally located in Trieste. Easy to walk everywhere. The lift was very appreciated given our heavy luggage and Diana and Giovanni were really helpful and available. Access to a washing machine was also fantastic. Very much appreciated the early check in.

The nightclub downstairs was noisy on the weekend despite the triple glazing on the windows.
Beautiful, clean and spacious having all the luxuries. The person in charge was very helpful.

Even though 'people' complain about notes / instructions --- we could have used a tutorial on the AC remotes and (absolutely great!) spa tub ---- both worked beautifully, just took a min to figure out.

Nothing comes to mind - we liked it all.
The ideal location, with everything walkable. Inside was 100% updated and modern. Well thought out from the outlets, comfort, layout, bathroom and quality materials used. Though in a vibrant and noisy area it was whisper quiet in our suite. Shared washing machine a nice touch. Elevator if you need, stairs if you want to work off the pasta.

You should be aware that the apartments are three stories above a very loud bar and restaurant. Though the owners have tried to mitigate the noise with windows, 50-100 people below your window will create noise. The noise decreases and is done by about 11. It did not bother us, but you should be aware.
The apartment was perfectly located in the center of the city. Electronic key pad access allowed us to arrive late and the owner were marvelous about providing us information.

Lovely studio apartment in an excellent location. The apartment was thoughtfully fitted out and although not much larger than a hotel room it was quite homely. The fittings were very modern and good quality. We arrived by ferry and left on the train and it was an easy walk to both.Trieste is a lovely city without the crowds.

Nil - no view from window but not an issue.
Excellent position, very well designed suite small but high ceilings and airy, good air conditioning, quality fittings and a superb shower, an ideal studio for a short break in Trieste, Situated very much in the heart of the beautiful old town surrounded by restaurants coffee shops etc, very handy for the cruise ship terminal which is just a few minutes easy walking away. Great double glazing, no noise from the surrounding restaurants etc. superb communication from the owners, very responsive and helpful and simple instructions for entry etc.
