Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe dinner was a bit overpriced, at the same time I saw lots of guests sending their uneaten/ hardly touched food back, including us - our steak was chewy & inedible (to be fair, we did not get charged for it on the check out). Generally I felt the restaurant atmosphere during the dinner was stiff & tense. I wish it was more lively and warm, like when we saw the kitchen ladies outside earlier, having a break and chatting in a typical manner that would add to the atmosphere. The hotel does not offer lunch or any food to buy, with no shops or food places nearby it is inconvenient if you stay there for a day. The surrounding area is smaller than the impression the pictures give. It feels like there is not enough ambient seating places created outside apart from a small table & a couple of chairs right in front of the reception . The pool area would do with an upgrade from plastic chairs & sunbeds to more substantial wooden furniture, to keep in style with the buildings (although it was too cold to use the pool when we stayed) No need to fix beds in the rooms to the walls as metal frames clank with each tiniest turn and move - this is easily heard next door and vice versa, very annoying. Some rooms in the other single store building face the back of kitchens that had doors open & staff chatting loudly, it was quite noisy in the morning if you wanted to sleep longer. Originally we had an issue with hot water, maybe we were not familiar with the system and just kept the tap open for long & waited for hot water to come. We tried various combos & order of actions until something finally worked, so maybe instructions would be useful if there is a trick to it. Although we asked twice at the reception & were told the hot water should just be there, no tricks or nothing clever to do.
It's interesting set up & getting there from Etna Nord was quire challenging, via tiny streets of Castiglione de Sicilia town (as the hotel is not in the town itself, as we were under impression from the address, but still a good drive away). The path from the car park to the reception looks pretty & with character. So is the restaurant / reception section. Rooms are very spacious and there are different types in 2 different buildings (we had one of each), the ones upstairs above the restaurant on top of the converted stone building have great views over the valley and a stone sitting terrace outside the room door. Interior is nicely decorated in the relevant style of the borgo, clean, and bathroom was huge & well stocked. Dinner in the restaurant was supposed to be presented as classy & posh, with white table clothes, great dish presentation and elegantly dressed in black suits staff. The breakfast was good, less formal & more relaxed. The receptionist Sarah was lovely, warm & helpful, we had a great chat with her.

LithuaniaThe resort hotel is a luxury facility that is intended primarily for vacationers and is usually located near special attractions, such as beaches and seashores, scenic or historic areas, ski parks, or spas. This hotel is not resort. Forget feeling of luxury. It is located nearby quite a busy local road. Was dreamimg about romantic fields of lemon trees or grapes around we could walk before dinner, but no. It is just simple, clean hotel to stay overnight. Also worth to mention that restaurant was not working on a day of our arrival (wednesday) and we found out this information just during checking in to the hotel.
I liked the charm of hotel’s old section. The historical ambiance adds a unique touch to the resort. Room was really clean. Housemaid very friendly and receptionist helpful. Quite nice selection at breakfast buffet.

MaltaWhen windy you should have the option to dine inside as food will get cold easily and one won't enjoy the food and the evening.
Located in a quiet area 35 minutes from Taormina and 5 minutes away from Alcantata. Staff are amazing and helpful. Clean and comfortable and the lady taking care of the rooms cleans perfectly. Enjoy the good breakfast on the terrace and you can also dine at the resort at a reasonable price. Food is great. Hope to return shortly.

MaltaLovely property which great use emerged in the countryside. Although an old difficult building, the property has been converted to very modern standards just making it super comfortable to spend a couple of nights in. The place also includes a decently sized pool and the lovely restaurants with option of dining alfresco. The restaurant only offers food at dinner time, including a selection of typical dishes are cooked to perfection. Prices are not cheap but reasonable. The rooms are quite large and cleaned every day, including change of showers. The Internet connection is relatively good for Sicily standards and rooms are all equipped with cable tv and mini fridge and ac.

United KingdomThe Wifi didn't extend well into room fourteen, although fine for our neighbours. Something to look at.
Il Borgo has a lovely location perched on a wooded hillside above the Alcantara river valley, which can be enjoyed with a drink beside the swimming pool. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed seeing what local produce was going to appear each morning for breakfast, and the restuarant compared very favourably with others. We would like to compliment the wonderful staff as all were willing to help with any problems we or others had. Notably Sarah had a busy time overseeing breakfast in the morning but was only too pleased to help with more coffee or advice. This was epitomised by one of the cleaning ladies who came running after our car just as we were leaving on our last day with a hair clip that had been left in the room.

LatviaWe had two rooms, in one of the room's bathrooms, the shower didn't have any walls or curtains, thus everything was wet afterward. Moreover, the chemicals used in the cleaning left a very specific odor that required ventilating the rooms before going to bed. Overall, the rooms felt outdated.
We really enjoyed the countryside vibe. The breakfast was exceptional, and the staff was super friendly. Was a very smooth check-in and welcome process. If you are into countryside stays, this is a place to consider. Having a dinner option at the facilities was a big plus. During summer days the pool would be a nice addition.

Netherlands- WiFi wasn’t available in the room. This was quite a bummer for us. WiFi was available at the reception, but it was super slow. - Rooms are quite noisy. We could hear someone having a video call in his room at 1 am. - We requested a double bed, but we got two single beds made up as a double bed. The beds didn’t stay in place (a gap occurred between them every time). However, when I gave feedback about this, it was well received. - Dinner at the restaurant is nice, but a bit expensive compared to restaurants in the region/the quantities.
- Sarah and Anthony, from the reception, were very welcoming, friendly and professional. Sarah gave us good tips regarding visiting mt Etna. - The location of the property is perfect for visiting mt Etna, Taormina and the Alcantara Gorge. - Breakfast was lovely. Kitchen staff made different home made cakes every day. - The property itself is beautiful and rustic. Incredible views. - Water pressure in the shower was surprisingly good. - Rooms were very clean. - Pool area looked great. We we weren’t able to use it due to the weather, unfortunately, but I can only imagine how nice it must be to have swims here in summer!

MaltaPillows were a bit too soft and wifi connection in the rooms is very weak. It would be good to have a small lunch menu for near the pool as if you get hungry during the day, you would need to get food from elsewhere.
Great location with ample parking available. Very nice outdoor area and comfortable and spacious rooms. The staff were helpful before and even during the trip and the breakfast was delicious. Very nice view and quiet surroundings. Overall a really nice location to rest and relax.
