Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsDefect airco + possible bed bugs. I stayed one night and both my boyfriend and I left with a bunch (like 15 each) of itchy red spots. It could be bed bugs, but since the airco didn't work we slept with the balcony door open (so perhaps mosquitos?) Although the spots didn't look nor feel like mosquito bites and we didn't we find any mosquito in the room the next morning.
The place is absolutely magnificent: Scopello in general is just a stunning village. There is a parking spot at the entrance of Scopello and the walk into town takes 5 minutes. The hotel receptionist was welcoming, but didn't explain anything (no map, no 'what to do or see'). Bed and bathroom are just fine. Breakfast is served by a sweet woman and is nice! Fresh fruits, baked goods and coffee. The famous Scopello beach is down the hill, which you can walk but there isn't a pedestrian road. You walk down through some bossage and a very steep hill. Do notice: it's not a public beach, it's exploited, so at the entrance you have to pay a fee and show your green card. We had to walk all the way up to grab our green card (it's steep, like we are fit young folks but you really don't want to do this walk up and down twice on flip flops). Would be nice if we had been informed at the reception, once again.

United StatesRoom key was hard to use on our door. The shower leaked water onto the floor. Didn’t realize how many mosquitos were in the area until we fell asleep with the windows open.
The terrace view was incredible. The location was convenient and close to everything we needed!

United KingdomBreakfast was not included, we paid for it but it wasn't great. Also, no parking in the hotel (but because it is in the old town so cars can't go in).
The staff was super helpful and friendly. Located in the heart of Scopello old town which is very beautiful. Also, strategically located to visit la reserve dello zingaro (5min by car to the south entrance).

Czech RepublicThe language was sometimes struggle from both sides. The breakfast was very much okay for 2€ but soo slow and the bread wasnt eatable, even though they claimed this is fresh bread, hard as hell. The worst thing is that the closest real beach is 2km away!!! Everything else is private and u wont access it. All the nice views are private. U need a car for surviving in here for sure. Its definitely overpriced.
The view was beautiful, beautiful little pitoresque city by few steps walking. Hotel was very clean and wifi strong. Bed was comfy. I liked the old good furniture.

United KingdomGeneral shabbiness Terrace of our room neglected Air con didn’t work Absurdly small shower positioned so close to toilet it was difficult to enter Crappy toiletries No tea/coffee making facilities Restaurant closed (breakfast available) Mosquitoes Dingy lift
It has great views, but given the fact it was almost empty (end of season), our room was disappointing because what would have been a lovely view was partially blocked by an ugly wall. Good (cold) breakfast buffet We borrowed wine glasses & had a pre-prandial glass of (our) wine on the terrace (see photo). That was nice.

United StatesThere was nothing that I didn’t like about the facility, the cleanliness or the staff.
I loved that it was a family-owned business which seems so rare in the hotel industry anymore. The meals were wonderful. We got introduced to a delicious local wine. The view of the sea was wonderful. The staff didn’t speak the queen’s English, but, made every effort to communicate with us and us with them.
