Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Fortunata met us at the car park and kindly drove us and our cases the short distance to her home right on the sea. The property was very, very clean and tidy and was decorated with all sorts of items made from salvaged flotsam and jetsam. The bed linen was immaculate and fresh including the pillows and eiderdown. We were made to feel very welcome. Falling asleep to the sound of the sea washing against the walls was very special. We cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This was the highlight of our trip to Italy. Our host Fortunata was such a beautiful lady, kind and could simply not have done any more for us. We stayed 3 nights and felt like we were incredibly welcomed. Nothing was too much trouble, our every whim was catered to. The breakfast is incredibly substantial and took our breath away. Room is gorgeous, and historic, with fine details like driftwood/shell lamps, and all kinds of little touches that made the room so special. BUT THE VIEW!!!!!! Sitting out on our balcony felt like a dream, and the constant sound of the ocean lapping around you is something I have longed for since I left. A very very special place, one I will remember for years to come.

AustraliaThis property is amazing. So unique, you can tell that Fortuna the owner is so proud and rightly so. Unique decor befitting a seaside apartment. The balcony is spectacular. We sat for ages just taking in the views. Breakfast was exceptional. An abundance of different foods and drinks specially prepared by Fortuna. The bed was great and lovely to sleep with the sound of the waves. Fortuna helped us with our parking and our bags. Great to have a small kitchen also to prepare food. Scilla itself is delightful , especially Chianalea where the apartment is located right on the sea. Easy walking to the beach, castle etc. Above all was the kindness shown to us by Fortuna. What a gentle caring soul. This place was a winner.

United StatesNothing. All wonderful.
First, Fortunata (the host) is lovely and was so helpful! We had a long drive and she met us to help us find parking and even drove us with our luggage. She really went above and beyond. With the breakfast also… above and beyond. Such a spread! Aside from just her, the room is great. So cute. And, the balcony hangs over the water and it’s stunning. Plus, the best location. If we could plan our trip over, we’d stay several more nights there!

AustraliaContacting host wasn't easy (we don't speak Italian) but all worked out well.
The apartment was exceptional - in all its character - located directly on the waters edge with an impressive suspended balcony over the water with great views. Breakfast was outstanding - laid out with so much choice and variety. Our host Fortunata was so helpful providing lemons and ice for our G&T and some beautiful glasses making a simple drink on the balcony so special. Fortunata was so helpful in parking our car and taking us and our suitcases to the apartment.

United Statesabsolutely nothing!
Hosts went above and beyond, including fantastic assortment of local and homemade delicacies for breakfast, as well as lunch for us to take with us each day! Wonderful people, fabulous accommodations, mixing old world with new for every convenience, including the most unique artistic light fixtures made by our host from parts of his father’s retired fishing boat. The unmatched view from the sweet balcony literally hanging out over the sea, was by far my favorite part of this apartment aside from the hosts! Must see to believe!

United StatesWe stayed in an amazing unusual place with a balcony right over the sea. Our host was such a caring person delivered us every thing we needed. The bed is warm and comfortable. The bathroom is provided with everything you need. The breakfast was way more than enough with hot milk, coffee tea and fruits. She even packed us a bag of food to go. I definitely recommend this place if you are coming to Scilla! Location is perfect, and she showed us where to park not too far. Thank you so much for everything 🙏

CanadaEverything was absolutely perfect!
This was the most amazing stay ever! The location was so authentic and had cute little restaurants, a marina and very easy walk to Scilla. The host went over and above to make sure we had everything and even helped us with parking at the galleria/tunnel which made our stay so very easy! The decor was stunning and the bed the most comfortable in my journeys through Italy. The breakfast was a large variety and very filling and made with care and served so pretty on the table. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommended it! This by far was my favourite place in Italy!

The property is located right in the centre of the village. It is done up beautifully, with great care and attention to detail. The host, Fortunata is an amazing person and she took very good care of me. I was worried about my luggage and having to lug it from the station to her house, but Fortunata offered to both pick me up and drop me back to the station. She is wonderful to speak with, with our limited knowledge of each other’s language, we still managed to chat up. The breakfast is very good too. There’s also a functional kitchen for anyone who wants to cook. There’s a great restaurant right across her door and 2 good bars too :) if you want to truly experience Scilla, stay in Chianale and at Fortunata’s.
