How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Very noisy street, hard to sleep with windows open, but there was an air condition we were offered earplugs
Very well located apartment- in the old part of the city and 7 km from the airport. Parking places available in the street. Lift available, very clean, tea, coffee machine in the spacious room. All you might need in the shared kitchen and living room . nice view from the windows Very friendly staff.

Spectacularly good stay. Great location. Beautiful heritage building.. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed. Strong Wi-Fi. Strong hot shower. Nearby parking arranged by owner at modest cost. Beautiful presentation. Good included breakfast. Great communication by owner before arrival and during stay. Owner's provided information about Catania attractions very helpful.

A little bit noisy street, but after all, it is located on a main boulevard.
We stayed pnly one night, but it was a good deal. The host was very responsive. They were waiting us and recommend where to eat that evening. The location is quite central in an old and historical building. Walkable distance to the restaurants . We had nice dinner to Via Santa Filomena district. Full of good reataurants and nice atmosphere. Nice and big room. Very clean. We easily found parking space nearby hotel. Highly recommneded for some days stay.

The location and being treated as a friend. Very well looked by Luciano who was informative. Loved the room and the restoration of a beautiful building.

The ventilation in bathroom was not great but we left the door open when we left gor the day and it was ok.
Location of the accomodation was very central and it was easy to walk to major sights. There were a lot of lovely restaurants nearby and it was easy to navigate out of the town for day trips. The building and our room were lovely and we enjoyed the little balcony in the room. Breakfast was good and had savory and sweet options, a good start for the day. Our host was very attentive and gave us helpful advice re restaurants etc. To avoid stress about parking we got the private parking space provided (there was a little charge for it) and it was great to not to need to spend time going around and trying to find a space for the car.

The room looks just like the pictures, boasting a comfortable and pristine ambiance. Situated in a prime location, it offers convenience, centrality, and safety. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the host for their exceptional hospitality. They generously provided us with maps and valuable insights into local attractions. Additionally, their thoughtfulness extended to complimentary water bottles replenished daily. Moreover, we were treated to a delightful breakfast spread, adding to the overall enjoyable experience of our stay. Very recommended. I will definitely come back.

The property is hidden in the heart of Catania. It’s very close to everything important in the city. Luciano is a great host, very helpful and talkative! The rooms are quite big with high roof, they are clean and just in general very nice :)

Nothing we didn’t like.
Comfortable beds in great space from which all of town can be visited on foot. Awesome breakfast and Luciano is an attentive host with a lot of suggestions. Highly recommend his place.

Really nothing that we didn't like
Everything!!! - extremely clean, gorgeous rooms, original ceilings and floors, in an historic palazzo - extremely nice owners, helped us with all the needed details and above that. Very fluent english-speaking - very close to the nearby attractions - very good breakfast, more than enough for a good morning start - parking available on the street but also in the plaza situated right next to the building. Also, if you solicitate, you can pay for a private parking

Area is noisy but provided with ear plugs in room. Also air con helps to create "white noise" to drift off to sleep.
Great central location, amazing old style building. Superb check in experience, only too happy to help get us settled and also guide us with what to do in Catania. Nespresso machine in the room!

What a lovely place, Luciano was so informative and helpful, as where all the staff. The building is beautiful, in a really great location. The rooms where big and modern, with everything we needed. I would not hesitate in recommending to stay here when in Catania which is a fabulous city.
