Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaAirconditioning was quite noisy, so the choice was only to switch it off during a quite hot night....
Location was oky, all in all. It is a bit like in the good old days - a little Pizzeria in the basement (quite cozy and recommendable) which you need to pass to get to the higher levels and into your rooms. We loved the place, since we like pretty much the retro-experience of staying in Italy like back in the 80s. The breakfast fast super-individual and prepared with love.

South AfricaWe were there over a weekend, but parking may be a problem during the week.
Close to the funicular up into the town. An ideal location for the visit. Breakfast was good. The staff saw to our needs. Beware of the trip to the bottom of St. Patrick's well. It is an amazing piece of engineering, but it is 62 m deep and you have to walk all the way down and then back 496 steps!

United States- Outdated room/hotel/restaurant - Older gentleman (owner?) who is mostly there and is there for breakfasts is quite unfriendly and inhospitable. - Breakfast (very very limited and they re-use the same food day after day) - Seemed quite expensive for what you get
+ Good size room + Hot water + Bathtub + Housekeeper was very kind + Elevator + Appeared clean + 10 min walk to train station and funicular station to reach the historic city center (although I wish I would’ve paid the extra $ and stayed up there honestly..but if you’re on a budget, this will do)

Antigua & BarbudaAs usual in Italy the shower stall was on the tight side.
Location was perfect, close to the motorway and also the old city of Orvieto. Breakfast was adequate. The room was fine considering there were 3 adults.

AustraliaIt was very hot and stuffy in the room without any cooling and air circulation. Window needed to stay closed to keep noise from train out.
The service and friendly staff welcomed us at a late time in the evening. The room was clean but the air conditioning wasn’t functional. Breakfast was a big selection of foods from fruit to cereals to meat and cheese and sweet pastries and cakes. It was a great last minute stop for one night. Good parking facility very close by.

Denmark1) Location: in the valley of Orvieto, which has *none* of the charm of the village on the hill. Orvieto valley has just roads and railway, and this hotel has clear noise from both. 2) the hotel is "tired", it's worn and the common areas have an old smell, maybe from the days when smoking indoors was normal. Renovation is way overdue! Suggest sound proofing the place too. 3) breakfast isn't up-to-date either: cereal and yogurt is fine, factory toast and small packs of chocolate spread works okay, but the sliced cheese and the cakes are dry.
Fairly cheap and fairly helpful host - that's all the good I have to say

PolandThere seemed to be one person working all the time and running everything. He was not friendly. Breakfast had a lot of cakes and was ample, but pastries were not fresh. Coffee was not good. The rooms dated back to the nineties, mattresses also needed updating.

NetherlandsBreakfast had a lot of options besides the traditional Italian sweets; yoghurt, cheese, and eggs. And the sweets that were there, many different homemade cakes that were super tasty. The rooms and everything were super clean. The interior is a bit outdated, but I kind of liked this feeling. As if I went back in time. The location is conveniently very close to the train station and funicular that takes you to the town of Orvieto.

United StatesFive minute walk from the train station, which is extremely helpful if you're carrying your luggage in this hill town. The funicular, which is also within a five minute walk, will take you up the hill to historic Orvieto. It's a cozy, family run establishment with very clean rooms. You can smell their fire burning grill and oven even from the street, which I think gives it an even cozier feeling. Breakfast with cakes and other options, including several coffees and juices, was adequate. Dinner and beverage options in the restaurant were very good, Definitely have their grilled meats! The staff was extremely nice and helpful.
