Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo kettle in the room! I should checked this!
It was a lovely little Italian hotel, lovely facilities, very clean and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and a very good gluten free section. The location was great, very near a main bus stop and a nice walk in to the centre.

ItalyI experienced problems with the Wi-Fi connection during my stay.
The staff members were exceptionally kind and went above and beyond my expectations! The hotel is well-organized, with comfortable rooms, an open-access swimming pool, and is close to the seaside. The breakfast is intercontinental and takes into account intolerances and gluten-free products. The hotel is well connected with public transports to/from Catania or Taormina. I would recommend it.

Nicely located away from bustle of Taormina but beaches and many good restaurants within easy walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would highly recommend this exceptional hotel

United KingdomSo glad we chose Villa Daphne for our first trip to Sicily. Everything about the hotel was perfect. Our room (230) had a huge balcony overlooking the pool, was spacious and immaculately clean. The hotel staff - Claudia, Azzurra, Vincenzo, to name a few - couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfast was fresh, varied and plentiful. The proprietor lives next door and was always on hand. As we didn’t have a car, the main bus terminal of Recanati just 50 metres away was a real plus. Fares were very cheap - €1.9 to Taormina (20 mins) and €6 to Catania airport (1 hour) - and buses were frequent. Trips can be organised at Reception. The area of Recanati has several restaurants within a 5 minute walk (can highly recommend O’Neil’s and Valentino’s), or the Lungomare (beachfront) of Giardini Naxos is 20 mins walk away with a plethora of cafés and restaurants. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Villa Daphne and we’ll definitely be back!

United KingdomHardly anything at all. The pool perhaps a bit small for keen swimmers, but perfect to cool off in and has a jacuzzi function.
Very friendly and efficient STAFF (especially Claudia!), who kindly allowed us to check in and out early. A very clean room, comfortable, mini bar, air conditioning, with a balcony and view onto the pool. Excellent choice at breakfast, fast service in bar. Right by main bus stop with regular service to Catania airport (50 mins) and local to railway station (5 min) and Taormina (25 min). Recommended!

AustraliaI would have liked to see tea & coffee making facilities in the bedroom.
The hotel was beautifully & stylishly decorated & spotlessly clean. The pool area was fabulous. Claudia, on reception, was exceptional. Very friendly, helpful and informative. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast each day which offered plenty of options. Being close to the bus terminal was a real bonus enabling us to hop into Taomina & Catania very easily. We were able to catch the bus back to Catania airport at a fraction of the cost of a taxi. There is a supermarket close by which was also handy.

United KingdomThe hotel is not in the main part of Giardini Naxos, although if you are fit a 15 min walk helps to burn off some of those extra calories accumulated at breakfast !!. This wouldn't put me off booking this hotel again as I think being a little off the main part added to our stay. The hotel is convenient for the hop-on hop-off bus which goes up to Taormina and the main part of Giardini if you don't fancy the walk.
The small boutique hotel is very friendly and the staff are professional and attentive to your every need. It's a very personal service and the staff seem to know who you are and very rarely do you get asked for your room number. I liked this very much as it differentiates from the bigger hotels and it makes for a relaxing holiday. We had a special birthday meal arranged, with two of our party having a Sicilian cookery lesson and preparing the lunch for the party. Such great fun and a special thanks to the manager for making my partner's 60th birthday so memorable. The front desk arranged a boat trip with Prosecco and Arancini for the party of 8 and this was fantastic and better value than was offered down at the quayside and so was the Godfather tour which they also arranged for us. Breakfast was comprehensive with a buffet-style offering but also very leisurely taken outside on the terrace above the pool or inside the hotel if you preferred.
