How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Highly recommend Residenzia Magnolia! The stay was amazing mostly due to wonderful hosts.The hotel is located close to the sea - 5 minutes walk and just around the corner from the city center of Tropea. Breakfast is served on request - eggs, vegetables and mozzarella to die for. Fresh pastry to accompany your Coffee every day and of course the main star - homemade cakes - miss them already! Rooms are very clean and cosy. The hosts are the nicest people and very helpful even in the crisis situation. We’ll definitely be back!

Pressure from the shower water was sometimes not very powerful. Mosquito nets would be a plus, but are not really necessary.
Residence Magnolia is quiet and centrally located. The staff is nice and breakfast is very good! The rooms, especially with the balcony, are definitely worth the stay.

Only thing I would change is a couple of the chairs outside are slightly broken but that’s a very minute detail that didn’t impact our stay at all.
Very bright with nice decor, bedroom was a very good size and the bed was super comfy! Balcony was very nice and came with a drying rack and pegs which was a nice touch. Breakfast was great for a vegetarian- eggs, tomatoes, cheese, fruits, yoghurts, cereal and pastries as well as more. Loved our stay.

I have no complaints whatsoever.
The residence is beautiful. The installations are new and all rooms share a patio with lots of plants and green. They serve a very nice breakfast with fresh, homemade pastries and salty options such as omelette. The place was extremely clean and the owner was very professional and nice to talk to. I definitely recommend staying in Magnolia Residence.

The room was perfect for the amount of time we were there everything we needed and not to far from the centre of town. Antonio and Amanuela were very helpful and the complementary breakfast was lovely catering for both an Italian colezione or bacon and eggs/omelette if desired.

The guest house is very close to everything: the town centre and beaches. Antonio and his family were superb, even staying late on our first night to assist our late arrival. Breakfast was beautiful. It was all we could have wanted.

Perfect location to enjoy Tropea - very close to historic centre and the beaches. The sunny balcony/terrace was great and Emanuela was a wonderful host.

Wonderful hosts, great breakfast and perfect location to beach and town. We were even lucky enough to get a ride to the train station when it was raining. Highly recommend and great value for money

To be picky: the shower base had mould all around and the room was on the small side.
Breakfast was great - they provided for all types of tourists and differing eating habits. Location was excellent, walking distance to everything. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier or mor helpful. Lovely outside area to sit and relax. Really enjoyed our stay.

The manager and staff were very friendly and professional. They reserved a parking space for me right outside the hotel . Breakfast was freshly cooked and of a good standard .it was very clean . We had a great stay . Thankyou

We have visited every year for three years. The staff is A+++. The cleanliness, modern Italian facilities, nice breakfast, proximity to central Tropea, proximity to beach, shops…all are also why we choose to return to Residenza Magnolia.

Not the closest option to the beach or downtown, but still walking distance, and it was easy to park in front of the property.
Very responsive host, comfortable room, good breakfast, a B&B that strives to offer hotel-like services
