Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA unique property - converted from a 19th century prison. Everything was well designed - so was functional, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. it was extremely quiet at night. Everything was spotlessly clean. The (Italian continental style) breakfast was very well presented. The owner was very friendly and helpful - but not ever in an intrusive or excessive way ie a very professional manner. The surrounding area offers some excellent sites - all within a few miles of driving. The ones we went to and were going impressed by were: Porto. Pinto beach (a lovely beach behind which are extensive sand dunes plus some large historical man made lagoons); Grotte Is Zudas (caves with amazing delicate aragonite crystals) and the Necropolis of Montessu (an extensive series of Stone Age rock tombs, some of which were very sophisticated, with cave art). The town itself has a reasonable restaurant/pizzeria plus a trattoria: the latter though seemed to be open only in the daytime when we visited (November).

SloveniaOur room was at the end of the hall so the internet reception was bad. If you need it make sure they give you a room which has better wi-fi. Also, we were during winter so make sure you have some slippers with yourself otherwise floor can be very opposite to lava. :)
We really like the size of the room and the peace that we had. Also, the staff was very cute. When we were hungry late at night they made us a fruit basket free of charge and some tea. We have seen that cell room and it looked fantastic. But we choose something more romantic.

RomaniaOne of the rooms had clogged shower and sink, but was quickly taken care of. Breakfast wasn’t very rich, but pretty satisfying given we were in Italy 🤪
The service was excellent - we communicated well, were well taken care of, got a lot of great tips of what to visit. The hotel is a former prison and they kept one cell for visiting which is interesting. Hotel is in a quiet village, views from up there are really nice. There’s a really good restaurant 1 min walking from the hotel. We needed to do laundry as we traveled long term and they didn’t charge a penny for it (we do laundry often when we travel since we travel a lot, it has NEVER been free anywhere in the world, not even when you do your own laundry).

GermanyVery bad Wifi receptionist to the big walls but I already recommend to Matteo to use a mesh network like Google Wifi as this is essential in today’s world. I had to sit near the reception at night to plan my next stop and do some work instead of able to do this in my room. I’d wish that less electricity would be consumed (to fight climate change). The lights were on 24x7 in all corridors, just install some movement detection, and an aircon in the bar area was blasting full when the door was open. Not so nice :-(
Owner and host Matteo is amazing, he’s very helpful and knowledgeable not only in the nearby restaurants, attractions and things to do but also for places further away (he recommended a hotel in Bari Sardo which was exactly to my liking but unfortunately already fully booked). The rooms are very spacious (despite the building being a former prison, they even have one cell still available on site, in case you don’t want to pay lol), clean and modern (it was renovated 4 years ago). Breakfast is also nice and filling, especially nice as you can sit outside in a shaded courtyard.

United KingdomThe bed was too hard for my liking. No pool, so with the heat, it’s unbearable. The room was basic and functional but the lighting in the room was awful. The location is ok but, aside from a few nice restaurants in the area, there’s nothing to do. The nearest beach is 30 minutes away
The guys are very friendly and helpful.

GermanyIt says 4 Star Villa Santadi. It’s maybe real 3 Stars internationally.
The location was great. Absolutely downtown with nice parking and Restaurants around. The idea of turning an former „prison“ into a Hotel is nice. Everything reduced but nice. The owners are nice.
