How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The owner greeted us and gave us a detailed explanation of the house and area. The attention to detail in the apartment was exceptional! Location was perfect, lots of stairs to reach it. Would highly recommend.

The bathroom on the second floor was quite small and there's minimal privacy as there aren't actual bedrooms but as long as you are prepared for this, it isn't too much of an issue.
Very clean, comfortable beds, tea/coffee/sweets provided. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. We loved the location of the apartment too!

Everything was perfect. The host is very kind and helpful. Great location. Cleanless in high level. The apartment has everything that you need. We had a great time at Viviere nei Sassi. Highly recommend.

Not an issue for us with a 1 night stay, but don't pack too much as it is a short walk to get there
The apartment is beautiful and perfectly appointed. It seems like everything was considered during the design and decoration. The staff is excellent in making sure you have everything you need and keeping the place spotless.

Absolutely amazing, so beautiful, cozy and comfortable. The host was very friendly and kind, took care of everything we needed. You will be happy to find there are delicious things for breakfast and water and milk, all kind of tea and coffee. The house is on a perfect location, near to good restaurants and all the sightseeing. I recommend the place with all my heart!

The location was just off the main square, making it perfect to explore Matera by foot. Gianni welcomed us and helped us with our bags, escorting us to the Sassi. He explained the facilties of the Sassi, which as an accommodation was clean and ultra modern.

Everything was as it was advertised,super clean ,toileteries including wipes,deodrant,airfreshner spray,sanitary items etc,milk and yoghurt in fridge,coffee corner well equipped,different tea selection,sweet treats and single wrapped sponges and tarts etc. Owner super helpful he gave us parking addresses ,different restaurants at good price.Since we had more than a 4hr flight delay he waited for us after midnight,helped us find parking.Moreover after we checked out we had a problem with the car we rented through another site,we phoned him and he found us a guy who has a van and he stayed with us till the airport at a reasonable price.I would definitly come back and recommend Vivere Nei Sassi for location ,super appartment and great helpful owner.

Very good located and typical home in Matera. The place is super well equipped, with clim and heating. A lot of small attentions fron the owner Gianni make the stay perfect ! Even you cannot access there by car, this is kind of easy to arrive with your luggage.

Could have used another cutting knife and tea towel for those who like to cook.
Beautifully renovated and tastefully designed in the heart of the old center. This apartment has everything you need and with extra touches!! Gianni is an Exceptional host and came to meet us and escort to the apartment when we were lost we appreciated the welcome bottle of Apperativo and water breakfast snacks and coffee! Love love love this place. Sophisticated contemporary design. This is the best of the old and the new world!!
