Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bedroom is too simplistic. Only one bed and a sofa bed in the room and no chair and table. Also the hotel is still under construction, it is very loud in the morning and woke me up.
The location is decent, next to the Rome termini station. The staff are nice, they told me where to go and plan a route for me tailored to my time.

IrelandThe hotel entrance was very off putting. At night you could hear rats squealing. We checked out at 3am to be greeted by rats running around the outside of the hotel. At night coming back to the hotel would make it feel unsafe at times with gangs hanging around the street outside.
Staff were very friendly. Arrived before check in time and had access to the room. Inside the hotel and room were both clean. Location was perfect it was close to everything.

FranceThe facilities were not at all like the pictures showed. To enter the hotel you have to pass an alleyway filled with trash and rats. The cleanliness was questionable. Not at all a pleasant stay and the price it's not worth what we got.
The staff was nice, nothing else.

MaltaIt was a rather disappointing stay considering that it was quite expensive for a 2 star hotel. The courtyard, just before the entrance, was strewn with building materials, making it look very cluttered. When we entered the room there was a strong smell of paint. It felt like a work still in progress. We arrived late in the evening and were told that in the MORNING the handyman would be coming to fix the toilet seat because it was broken and very wobbly. And also part of the door jamb which had also come off. After a day walking around Rome we were looking forward to having a shower and a rest before we went out again to eat. However, when we arrived back, at 6.30pm, the handyman had just arrived to fix everything. So we had to wait around in the tiny room till he was finished. According to Booking.com the two double bedrooms that we had booked were supposed to have air conditioning. However, when we asked we were told that the AC would be switched on later in the month. And we were offered a fan. There were no curtains on the windows and although the shutters were louvred, this did not prevent the strong light coming in from outside, flooding into the room. It was very difficult sleeping when we were not able to have the room in total darkness. The mattress or bed in room 10 was caved in on the right-hand side and very uncomfortable. It was very lopsided. The bed in room 18 could hardly be called a double bed. It was very small. Two pillows did not fit side by side. The staff on the other hand was very helpful and sympathetic. However, the situation left a lot to be desired. We paid a great deal of money for 3 nights stay in Rome, in a hotel which shouldn’t even be called a hotel, and which wrecked our experience of this beautiful city.
The staff on the other hand was very helpful and sympathetic.

IranThey charge me for a room with AC in the hot summer and gave me only a fan! I asked them and they just told me this is it and you have to check our website! Also, making the bed was the worth thing that you can imagine. Even the worthy hostel doesn't have such a lousy bed!
