Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South Africa"Accessible by lift" but the six stairs to get to the lift was not mentioned. It's always difficult when you are disabled and have to use a wheelchair or mobility scooter and you're not prepared.
The location suited our needs absolutely perfectly. Right in the center of old Town with lots of souvenir shops, Pubs & restaurants within a block or two. Supermarket in the same block & just across the street. All within walking distance. Close to the Harbour and car rental.

AustriaThe balcony overlooked the uninspiring backyard of nearby apartment buildings, with no enjoyable view. Furthermore, the space was nearly taken up by AC output units, limiting its use. The apartment's information mentioned cleaning every three days, yet it took almost a week and a complaint about dwindling supplies for any cleaning to occur. This lack of attention extended to the provision of basic items like toilet paper and a kettle. Despite assurances, our request for a kettle was unaddressed. Also the very tiny and uncomfortable lift, seemed like a reminiscent of the 19th century.
My family and I had a great time at this pet-firendly Trieste apartment. It was well-equipped with everything we needed and two bathrooms were a nice bonus, saving us from any shower queues. The AC worked flawlessly, and though the city center was a bit far, having Coop and Spar supermarkets on our street was really convenient. The nearby parking made beach trips easy. Overall, a comfortable stay with all the essentials. Highly recommended!

United KingdomThe property is situated centrally close to the commercial and shopping area and several bus routes run past, although it's about 10 minutes on foot from the Piaza Unita d'Itala. The Cathedral and Castello are fairly close but a bit of a climb.

TurkeyThe couch is a little bit weird when you try to sit on it tries to convert it to a bed. I would say It has to be improved. and Lighting is a little bit insufficient in the kitchen area. That's all things that can be improved.
Excellent location, all your needs like the supermarket is very close. Clean and quiet place, very well for the price. Good kitchen and sufficient area for at least 3 people to accommodate.

SerbiaExcellent location! The room was only around 15 minutes away from the very center of Trieste, with bus stops right across the street. You can also find lots of cafes, bakeries, and restaurants around the apartment, even a closed market and a supermarket are handy. The room itself is a good value for the money. I especially appreciate the fact that it was really quiet, despite all the traffic outside, so we could have a good rest. Also, the air-conditioning was working well, which was really important to us as we visited Trieste in August, so it was rather hot. Last but not least - Andrea was very kind and responsive. Although the check-in was generally allowed from 3 PM, Andrea made an exception and let us check in earlier, which we sincerely appreciated.

NetherlandsThe room was not cleaned once during my two-week stay (despite a sign in the room telling me it would be cleaned every 3 days), and also my towels were not replaced and I was given only 2 rolls of toilet paper for the two week stay. This was a bit inconvenient. Additionally, the bed sheets we're clean and stain-free but a bit worn (they teared just from sleeping on them at some point). Also, there was very little storage room in the closet, so I couldn't unpack my clothes very well.
The room was nice and the airconditioning was amazing. The location was also great both for traveling north (Grotta Gigante/scientific institutes) and for a short walk into the city center. There was an elevator in the building and the check in / check out service was extremely convenient.

United StatesOur hosts were very helpful before, during and after our stay. They worked closely with us to ensure that we could get the access code before we left home. The room and bath were clean and had fresh towel and linen. We were going on a cruise and our host assisted us in getting a taxi scheduled to take us to the ship because our phones were not operational. The location was close to plenty of choices of restaurants and shopping. It was centrally located so we could walk to all places we wanted to see.

SpainIt is very well located. Close enough to the city center. The room was really nice and very clean. The air conditioning worked fine. The building has two elevators, which is not common in Trieste. Amazing quality/price ratio. My room was fiori di vaniglia. The bed maybe is not super big (for me was fine as I was alone).
