Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JamaicaBeing brits we were a little peturbed at a curtain over the toilet, where as we are used to a solid door. It was easy to juggle bathroom needs.
The location was lovely, close to town, and the beaches. The view was gorgeous. It was a jamaican welcome, and jamaican style residence. They were kind to the dogs and cats and fed them. You could prepare food in the kitchen, store food safetly in the fridge. People around port antonio friendly, and we shopped with local people, locally in shops and the market, with no hassle or inflated prices .

United KingdomThere is a fridge to put your drinks and things in, but you have to ask the owner to put them in and give them back to you, which isn't very convenient.
The place is just past the centre of town, so easy to access restaurants and shops. It's also quiet and breezy on the hill. The room had a fan and mosquito net, so it was comfortable to sleep in.

CanadaThe time we were there unfortunately the water pump was on it’s last legs and would make a horrible loud noise every time it went on, which was often. It’s jarring sound occurred anytime anyone in the facility turned a tap on or flushed a toilet. It was loud and annoying. Tony is a handyman, so I suspect he will have this fixed soon enough. This isn’t the property’s fault, but good to know, the town comes alive, loudly, at night. There is music and big voices on loud speaker megaphones. If night life is your jam, this could be a good thing; but for sleeping, not so much. It all ends by 4am, just in time for the roosters to begin singing!
The layout and space of Finjam Cottage was great. There are three communal covered outdoor spaces that were great to sit and talk to each other and the other guests, or to quietly enjoy our morning coffee. Since I was travelling with my family, the kitchen was very useful for preparing meals and so we used the dining table to sit together and eat. The rooms were large and had warm water. Comfortable beds and pillows. My husband and I had room 4, which had a private balcony that we enjoyed. The property is surrounded by tropical trees, and has a great view to the water on both sides. Lots of birds to watch in the trees, and some neighbourhood cats would come to visit too. It was an easy walk down the hill to town to visit the market or walk the marina park. The roads out of town to the beaches are classic Jamaican roads, so 12 km to the beautiful public (by donation) Winifred Beach took over 40 minutes to drive! Tony, the owner of Finjam, is a very personable and kind man. He was helpful in all the ways and easy to talk to.

JamaicaI didn't like that there was no cable (Netflix etc...) and the bathroom was too near the bed. Also, there was no soap holder inside the shower.
The location was great and so was the staff

United KingdomRooms werent ready despite arriving after check in time (this seems to be a theme in Jamaica which I was expecting before I even arrived), floors could have been swept a bit better and bathroom was quite small. Water from bathroom tap was barely a trickle but shower was OK.
Use of the kitchen was free and decent amenities in there. Rooms OK, fairly spacious, whole place a little dated, seemed a little nicer in the photos but OK for 1 or 2 nights stay. Location alright, you can walk to the main centre for restaurants.

United StatesWe did not receive towels, toilet paper etc unless we requested. Not clear if we were expected to bring our own. The wifi and TV were very temperamental. When we did ask the host, he did try to fix the wifi and TV.
Location for proximity to banks, food etc. The host was pleasant, helpful, and accessible. He was also responsive to our needs. Allowed is to experience a lival Jamaican experience, as opposed to a resort.
