Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo AC Limited food options near the property. You need a car if you want to venture out of Tingalats which was fine for us as we had one.
Unique, homely space on the cliffs with a gorgeous salt water pool with a ladder which leads down to the sea in the right conditions. Super friendly and helpful staff with a great breakfast provided

DenmarkThe retreat is quite far from the restaurants/town and you need a car to go for dinner in the evening (as it is dark and the road is full of potholes) however you are allowed to cook in their kitchen which we enjoyed.
What a nice atmosphere!!! We loved our little, simple room hut close to the cliffs and the small swimming pool (with a queen bed and a nice bathroom with warm water). A good breakfast is served in the ‘living room’ on the other side of the road. We also experienced a lovely yoga session. Eleanore is a more than an amazing host. She really takes care of guests in a super professional and pleasant way. Thousand thanks to you and all the other ‘crew’ members. We really enjoyed our stay.

United StatesTingalaya's Retreat was above expectations. The staff made you feel like family and took care of us at all moments. The breakfast was one of the best ones we had in the island, we requested local food and what the Chef cooked was incredible. The pool is in amazing location just one step from the sea, it's clean and has salt water which makes it very special. We will come back

United KingdomEverything was just perfect as it was.
This is place is absolutely fantastic, the setting, the facilities, how well is kept and run. Beside the natural beauty and peaceful surrounding of this place what made the difference for us was the amazing service! Sophia , the manager, what a fantastic host and cook also!! Really a welcoming , homey atmosphere from all the staff working there. We had the pleasure to also meet the owner of the place who told us nice stories and gave us local tips. If you’re looking for a peaceful place with amazing people this is the one!

United StatesEverything was fantastic! It helped that we had a rental car with us, since some of the places in Negril are a bit too far to get to via foot. One suggestion is to offer connections to a local masseuse, since the setting is so amenable to such things.
My stay at Tingalaya exceeded my expectations. It was so peaceful and tranquil, with gorgeous gardens and vegetation. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. There were puppies there too! I was glad that there were some people, but not too many people. The pool is peaceful, right near the ocean. There is a guest fridge and kitchen to use if you don't want to eat out every day for lunch/dinner. There is a gorgeous yoga room with mats you can use. I would go back here in the blink of an eye - the best place we stayed in Jamaica.

FranceYou know that when you book but it’s really a bit far away so if you don’t have a car and want to go out it’s a little complicated. Dogs can be loud in the night !
Quiet, nature is beautiful, the pool and the chilling area at the seaside - just great! Very nice staff, they helped me a lot with everything that I needed. I just loved the atmosphere here!

CanadaThe owner can't help it, but the dogs in the neighboring side kill the peaceful vibes with their howling. Also, need to have remote operated gate - getting in and out of car each time to open and close gate became tedious.
Staff are lovely and very helpful, especially Sophie. Loved the landscaping clean beds, majestic ocean views over the pool.

United StatesI had a rat in my bed this morning. The mosquitoes were horribly bad. We also had roaches and lizards in the room.. No air conditioning was much worse than I anticipated. The cottages are not beach front, they are across the street and behind a concrete fence so there is no breeze to help with the muggy heat. We were completely bit up by mosquitoes which was miserable in the heat. The mosquitoes were in the rooms and the mosquito net around the bed didn't help. We had to turn off all lights as soon as it got dark trying to keep bugs from coming in the cottage. The waves were too big and went over the saltwater pool so we could not really cool off at all. There are no doors to have privacy in the bathroom so it was hard to shower or use the toilet without the family seeing into the bathroom from the living room.. Extremely overpriced especially for the location in comparison to another resort we stayed at in Negril which was half the price. This one was non refundable so we were stuck. The location was so far away from any restaurants or stores. They had security at night because the location was sketchy.
Sophia is a wonderful host and a fabulous chef. She worked hard to make sure we had a wonderful home cooked breakfast and was very kind. The buildings are pretty with unique features. It reminds me of a nature retreat without modern commodities. The gardens were beautiful. The lifeguard kevin was fun to have while we used the saltwater pool.

United StatesOnly breakfast was served no close spots to eat, no bar, no music, since the place just recently reopened it could used a more thorough cleaning. there were a lot of dogs on property that kept me up at night. There were huge cockroaches on our mosquito nets.
Sophia was amazing the day I arrived it was raining hard and the property was flooded in front where taxis couldn’t pass. she carried my friend and I to town to get food. I liked the pool view it was beautiful. The property has a lot of potential you can tell it was just recently reopened.
