Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThis hotel would be ranked #1 in Jordan if they would have a bar or sell beers and wine. This is the only thing that this wonderful place is missing
Everything: the location is amazing, the rooms are fantastic, the food is gorgeous, the staff is brilliant, outdoor and heated indoor pools are perfect, the outdoor jacuzzi is the cherry on the cake

Fantastic hotel with lots of character, set in the hills near Petra. Staff were incredibly friendly and really made us feel welcome. Thank you to the male and female members of the spa for our foot massages (needed after hiking!) Mohammed for showing us around and Saber for great hosting in the restaurant. Great food, lovely rooms and grounds with pool and outside jacuzzi.

United StatesThe bathrooms showers were very difficult to adjust for warm water (in particular they took forever to heat the water and weren’t very responsive to adjustment). This did not adversely affect our stay at all. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Also, the food in the hotel (we dined in all three places) was totally fine, but Jordan is a country with truly phenomenal food, and all things considered the food on property wasn’t that great. Again, we still had a wonderful time.
What a charming property - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I visited for a night with my parents and my three children (11, 8, and 6). Service was amazing and attentive. My parents enjoyed a massage at the spa, while the kids and I visited the indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. The outdoor pool was beautiful but it was too cold during our visit to brave it. The indoor swimming pool is one of the nicest hotel pools I’ve ever been it, and it was so wonderfully warm, which was a pleasant surprise on a chilly day. The views from the outdoor jacuzzi were lovely, and we thoroughly enjoyed the sauna. We also made use of the hotel laundry service, which was prompt and effective.

NetherlandsBeautiful complex, as if you are staying in a historic village. Low-rise building with nice rooms. We were upgraded to a very large and very nice junior suite at no extra charge. And are pampered. With a golf cart we were driven with our luggage to our room with stops along the way and explanations of where to find what (restaurants, indoor pool, outdoor pool). Slippers are ready, soft generous towels, free use of the minibar, espresso machine and kettle, fresh fruit and sweets in the room. The staff was very friendly. Everything is aimed at a very high level of service and customer appreciation. Everything is well arranged and of high quality. Aircos in the room, nice, large pools, spacious restaurant. Lots of menu choices at breakfast, both local and international options. Even when there are a few guests, choice at the dinner buffet is still sufficient. Bed was generous. A lovely mattress. Also the bathroom was spacious. Shuttle service to Petra or by car/tax about 10-15 minutes. We did not feel unsafe for a minute during our entire trip in Jordan from November 23, 2023 to December 3, 2023.

United KingdomThere is nothing in the immediate area though the hotel website does explain that. So you either need a car or make full use of the shuttle service to take you to the Petra main gates (7am or 8am with return at 12pm or 4pm so a bit limited). The junior suite we booked had no view at all so maybe the hotel needs to be clear on the options when booking as it is quite expensive. The hotel could do a little bit more on giving you information about Petra and your options for visiting the site. You don’t have to do it all in one day as the ‘back entrance’ to the monastery is another option for a second day after doing the main site on the first day. Having someone on the reception team with knowledge about Petra options would be a bonus. Please find a way to install water filtration systems and stop using plastic bottles - the hotel seems big enough and organised enough to do this.
Lovely hotel with a lovely room - we had a junior suite. The staff were really friendly and willing to help in any way or sort out any little problem like re-filling the complimentary fridge. The cleaner was happy to stop and chat and a lovely lady. Staff in the restaurant, also excellent. Very commendable on what the hotel is trying to do to regenerate the area. Outdoor pool area great although a little cold at the time we were there. Sitting out on the restaurant terrace for dinner to watch the sun go down was beautiful.

United KingdomIf you want to be in walking distance to Petra this isn’t the hotel for you, but it’s a 10min drive either by shuttle or 10 JOD taxi.
Beautiful property with lovely staff and amazing rooms, feels very authentic! Shuttle rides at 7am/8am to Petra visitor centre and returns at 12pm/4pm.

Love the history—it truly felt like we were staying in a historic village. The views over the village and hills were lovely beautiful sunset. And, while it wasn’t next to Petra, it was only a few minutes drive to the Petra entrance (there have a bus but we didn’t use it since we had a car)

United StatesI can’t think of a single way to improve the experience. The food and the staff exceeded our expectations in every way. Also I would recommend getting an official guide at Petra for two full days, going to Little Petra and the Monastery via the back entrance the 2nd day, if you are truly interested in the site. And the pools, hot tub and massage are perfect after long days hiking.
The Old Village Resort was absolutely fantastic. In particular Mousa at the front desk was so helpful and efficient in arranging various activities, and all the staff were friendly and competent, cordial without being obsequious. The room was beautifully furnished and had everything including atmosphere with the original stone walls so you felt you were somewhere special. The transport to Petra was convenient and easier than driving. We loved both pools. The Egyptian masseuse was the best I’ve ever experienced so take advantage! The breakfast and dinner buffets were outstanding with different choices every night (we stayed 3 nights) with lots of freshly prepared options, and delicious fresh juices. The views from the terrace for dining were just incredible both morning and evening, go earlier to see the sunset. Absolutely wonderful. We were playing backgammon on our iPad and the staff brought us a beautiful inlaid wood board to use. We were tempted to buy it. There are tour groups but the property is laid out in such a way that it accommodates them easily without overcrowding, something I had worried about before I booked. We just loved our stay.
