Beautiful big room with lovely views from the terrace. Great location, quiet and walkable to the beach, restaurants etc, with a really nice spa right across from the centre. Staff very helpful and supportive with arranging tours and trips.

The hotel arranged for transportation from the airport, which was a delightful short boat ride and felt very VIP. Staff was very professional, helpful and above all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel grounds feel like a little quiet oasis, so if you don't feel like doing much you can just spend the morning at the pool.

we loved the phantastic staff who made all our - sometimes very spontaneous - excursions possible with a great network of knowledgeable friendly guides; we also loved the way the place is set up with many little cosy private areas in the beautiful tropical garden and on the terraces, but at the same time airy and open; and we appreciated the free choice where to have the meals, and the food was delicious

Beautiful hotel with attentive staff. Gorgeous pool, food and ambience. The group Swahili dinner was exceptional and a lovely chance to meet other interesting travellers from around the world. Perfect place for a solo female traveller to feel relaxed.

Weather was quite hot and there was a long power cut on our second night, which made the night uncomfortable (no fans running). Combined with a lot of mosquitos it wasnt the best experience. On the time of our arrival at 1 pm we were informed that there will not be the swahili evening we had booked. It was postponed by two days due to lack of participants. In the evening we went to the yoga studio at 5 pm and waited with another guest for the teacher to come. After a few minutes we noticed a small postit on the wall saying there is no class. Would have been nice if guest relations could have informed this. On sunday late afternoon we asked about the swahili dinner, and the lady of quest relations just told us, that ”sorry we couldnt arrange it”. We had a nice relaxing stay, but there were a few things to improve on! Thank you!

The sitting areas were very nice, and the rooms nicely made too. Also the yoga studio was nice an quiet. Overall ambience very relaxing. The kitchen staff, the gentlemen doing the cleaning, luggage carriers, and the waiters were nice an efficient.

If I was being really picky, I think that for this price, it was missing the little touches that would have made this place super special and taken it to another level (like room fridges, pool towels and perhaps a rug on the floor rather than the polished concrete - which as a warning, I slipped over on twice so beware). There was quite a lot of water wastage whilst waiting for the hot water for a shower, which is far from ideal, especially when they ask you to be mindful of keeping water usage to a minimum. And I had to change rooms after the first night because my room was hot and humid and there are only fans to cool it down.

It was a fabulous location just a couple of minutes from the sea, beach and great restaurants. The staff were really nice and it was a great place to relax for a holiday. And when I arrived, the bed had flower petals on it and towel sculptures, which was a nice touch. The breakfast was great but sadly I didn't get to try other meals as you had to order about an hour in advance and the kitchen was closed at another time when I wanted to eat.

We had a very nice stay at the Banana House. First of all, it’s an absolutely beautiful place with all its details. The location is perfect to explore Shela and also the staff is really kind and helpful. Perfect basecamp to explore the beautiful island of Lamu. Jamil, owner who was born in the Banana House, took us on a beautiful tour to the dunes to overlook the island. We thank you for your hospitality. When in Lamu definitely stay at Banana House!

We stayed in the family room which is a bit stuffy although there are fans in the room which help. It was a little bit noisy too as the room was near to where the staff start work in the morning.
