Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe kitchen could definitely use more kitchenware. No microwave, and only one knife. But more importantly the thing they desperately need to change is the pillows. Every single one is full of mold, both in dorms and outside. Also, sadly the people on the beach are very pushy with asking for money which took away from the beach experience, not hostels fault though. Still recommend 100%.
Out of everywhere in the world, this was my favorite hostel ever! Meant to stay 4 nights and stayed 2 weeks and didn’t want to leave. The property is HUGE and so beautiful. They were constantly cleaning and all the facilities were well maintained. The staff, especially Beth, Brian and George were incredible. There’s hostel pets we fell in love with as well. Can cook there too! Just beware monkeys will enter the dorm rooms constantly! So don’t bring food in there. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Canadagreat spot with good facilities. huge compound with a short walk to the creek. Food was average and drinks were a little overpriced for a backpackers lodge but overall satisfied.

United StatesThe windows could've had screens, despite the good bed nets. However, I was afraid the monkeys running my outdoor bathroom might enter even with the curtains and grates over the window openings. They did not. Bring your own soap as that is not provided.
It is truly an eco-lodge that practices what it preaches, including permaculture, composting toilets, grey water systems, and more. The huts are cleverly spaced to provide privacy throughout the thick bamboo and indigenous plant forest. The outdoor bathroom was expansive and beautiful. The creekside beach is lovely and great for swimming. The green papaya salad was divine—the best in Africa!

DenmarkThe location was not optimal, local beach was dirty and filled with beach boys trying to scam you the first chance they get. Some locals also come to the hostel, which is great, but some of them are trying to scam you.
Great food and drinks for reasonable prices, great common facilities, big room, friendly staff

Second time staying, it's such a little oasis. Comfy bed, outdoor shower, AMAZING milkshakes and food. I was working remotely and was able to take work calls from the swimming pool.

SwitzerlandFood is quite expensive. For example small small plate of chicken wings for 500 which is a lot. There are no lockers in the dorms, which would be nice. Fans don't really help the top beds so quite hot.
Really nice place overall. Bathrooms were always clean. Dorm is quite big and enough space for everything. There are also some shelves which is quite nice. Beds are big and not only standard small. Wifi overall good, sometimes bit spoty but works for calls. It is a place with quite some locals. Kitchen has the basic things.

AustriaIf the dorm room is fully booked, I can imagine that there won't be enough storage space. The location is a bit away from the city and the open sea but is easy to reach by motorbike taxi
I really liked it and was very happy that I got the recommendation to stay there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I extended my stay. It's a great place to wind down.

United KingdomI got a private room and they would benefit from putting some sort of a screen over the windows as there were a lot of bugs. Also stuff kept falling from the thatched roof and covering the bed. Just a shower in the room with no hot water. I did really enjoy my stay but I think the private room was a bit overpriced for what I got.
Really wonderful environment, beautiful space, good food and I loved the beach a few minutes away. It is also a really good place for digital nomads with lots of space to work. I would recommend it especially if you want to be around other travellers.

AustriaNothing major - but when you take the budget double room be aware that there's no glass in the windows, meaning you could sometimes hear the people in the neighbour rooms during the night.
We really enjoyed the area around the bar/restaurant and the pool, there were lots of possibilities to sit and chill. On Friday's there are often events happening so we enjoyed an evening there with live music. Another highlight was the access to the beach where you can find bioluminescence in the sea at night which is really something special.

CanadaIt was a bit far to get to the beach, approximately a 15 minute piki piki ride.
I quite liked the location. I was conflicted whether to stay along the coast or to stay here and decided to come here for a different experience. It was worth it to go because if I picked the coast I don't think I would have made the trip out here. It's quite tucked away, but has access to the creek beach where you can get picked up to go for a sunset cruise (definitely worthwhile). You're surrounded by nature and I saw a large land crab and hedgehog! They had some live music on Friday and it wasn't super busy at this time but still easy to meet other solo travelers.

GermanyThe mosquito nets were not the best so if you’re sensible when it comes to insects, maybe bring your own. Also I had a weird moment with one of the staff members, unfortunately don’t know his name, but he took pictures of me without my permission which was kinda uncomfortable
The pool area was beautiful! Food was delicious, I recommend the mama zucchini so yummy! Staff was super friendly especially Phillip & Michael! Going down to the beach to see the glowing plankton at night was defo a highlight of our Kenya travels!
