Authentic multi storey house in the heart of lamu town

Ants & crawlies in the room, this is likely just a Lamu thing not necessarily the hotels fault. Basic room & bathroom facilities. Also on the walk home you pass a shop & at nighttime men sit outside it, not unsafe but I felt a bit self-conscious passing by after dark. Which happens a bit allover Lamu as a solo female.

Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Kept the place clean. Grateful for the pool with Lamu hot days. Few of us ate lunch here one day & it was very tasty. Carol is brill, super responsive on the phone too. Got chatting to other guests at the pool and at breakfast, some from Kenya some from abroad.

It is a lovely Swahili style complex in the old town of Lamu, hidden in one of the side streets - and it features a couple of different terraces and levels where you can relax, read, enjoy a drink. The rooms are simple, clean and totally sufficient.

The hotel is comfortable with cosy room. The pool is nice. Staff is very gentle and helpful. I enjoyed a lot my stay here. It's a very good budget option.

The mattress wasn’t very comfortable.

The building is nice, the pool is a very good addition to the place. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast is okay.

Only annoyance were the very loud local mosques early in the morning but this is anywhere in Lamu. Maybe too rustic for those wanting a romantic get-away.

It had a rustic and fitting charm that grows on you to a point where it feels like home. Staff where exceptional. Good meals. Relaxing and clean pool.

The place is beautiful but rustic, a bit abandoned, but this has its charm to it. Its good value for money if you are not looking for too much comfort. Basic but good!

I feel like we got a bit swindled with the airport pickup. Before we knew it, we were signing up for tours around Lamu with no indication of the price. It wasn't clear if the hotel knew that was happening since the guide didn't seem to officially work there, but it didn't feel completely great, to be honest.

The staff at the hotel, especially Ahmed, was friendly and kind.

The rooms we were in could do with a lick of paint to tidy them up, although they were kept clean and housekeeping was every day.

The staff were brilliant and helped to arrange a birthday surprise which was ready when we arrived. The pool was kept clean and was nice to have. The building is a traditional Swahili house with coral walls, carved doors and thatched roof, the real star here are the numerous outside areas, all with Swahili furniture. The breakfast consisting of fruit, tea/coffee and fruit juice followed by egg, toast and a variety of mandazi, samosa or pancakes etc was lovely and a great start to the day.

Lack of cleanliness in the kitchen and swimming pool. They sent a person to pick you up at the airport without notice. The room was small and really hot.

The house is very pretty, full of spaces to relax. Breakfast is very good. They let us spend the day even though check out time was 10 AM.

The place needs a little facelift, especially the sitting areas, the seat covers were quite old and a bit dirty. Staff not in uniform or tags so it's hard to tell who is working there or not at first.

The staff were kind and attentive. The pool was nice for me (I'm small) Nice and ample lounge areas. Enjoyed breakfast.

Everything was great, wish this place was at the seafront.

The breakfast was amazing and the fresh juices were simply heavenly (jannat). Mango, passion and Watermelon. After a day in the hot sun the juice will get your juices flowing like nobody's business 🤣🤣🤣. The staff were superb, they even went the extra mile to cook us up a delicious lobster which we got fresh from the traps in the morning.

Doors hard to close and lock, no toilet door but that might be Lamu style, narrow stairs to climb to get to the rooms.

Central location, good sized rooms, friendly staff esp Carol… made us feel at home.

The rooms are very simple. I liked it that way.

Absolutely beautiful traditional house with a beautiful pool. A lot of plants make it round. The staff was great and very helpful. Breakfast was also amazing! We will definitely stay there again.

Everything was great

Caroline is an amazing and hard-worked person. Everybody was so nice! The room was cleaned and well equipped. Lamu is so hot, so it's great to have a swimming pool!
