Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe beds were a bit firm for my taste, which led to stiffness in the morning. The internet is slow but workable.
The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. The property is so lovely that I didn’t feel the desire to go explore the surrounding area, I just relaxed and recharged. Would recommend the massages as well!

United KingdomThe environment was good but there were only 6 people present during our stay
We stayed during August 2023 at Leopards Point Luxury Hotel which is at best 2 to 3 star passing off as 5 star. We stayed for 3 nights in Baobab Villa a deluxe room about 12 by 12 foot, bathroom and wardrobe about 10 by 8 foot, very average space costing $300 per night. The room only had one chair, very thin white curtains at the 3 windows which allowed light through to flood the room as soon as the sun rose at 6AM. The wifi was very poor inside the rooms, and the front door could not close without being locked because it had swollen. I had many bites from mosquitoes during our three nights despite the fact that they claimed that the room had been sprayed. The room also had a mini bar and crisps and biscuits all passed their sell by dates selling at the most expensive prices in Malindi. The breakfast was very average – you selected what you wanted from a menu not a buffet. The only cereal they had was unbranded cornflakes and we were told that we could only have Kenyan coffee and tea free and needed to pay for Americano and other beverages that were not Kenyan. We were shocked because we had paid $300 a night for our room and expected 5 star service. The only thing worth- while at this hotel were the staff who were totally committed and professional which is why we gave a two star. Other than this the hotel is definitely a thumbs down- We will never again visit.

PortugalIt makes no sense to pay for breakfast coffee. the beach next to the hotel has many rocks and is not good for swimming
Good breakfast on request. I highlight the extreme professionalism of the staff and their friendliness. In addition to the good facilities, I highlight the architecture.

NetherlandsThere is a cosy small beach right there, but don't expect a long and wide beach where can go for a long beach walk. On the flip side: no beach boys!
The breakfast that is included in the rate that we booked was sufficient: fresh fruit, eggs of your choice and a beautiful plate with toast, mandazies and cakes. But if you like more you can order this. The view from the breakfast area is breathtaking! Our room, with air conditioning, was very spacious with 2 balconies and a beautiful view of the beach and sea. Each villa has its own hangout space with private swimming pool. If you are sharing the villa with other guests then there is also the communal swimming pool with lots of sunbeds to go to. There is enough seating space to enjoy a cocktail in the afternoon and the dining area is very stylish too.

GermanyHad the impression that the staff all in all needed more and better training to fulfill demands on a 5 star hotel. But people on the other hand tried hard and often succeeded to make things happen.
Nice boutique hotel on a kind of an peninsula. Equipment top with a very tasty view for every detail (lamps, game photos on the walls, cushions, daybeds ...). Private small beach and a lot of privacy.

SlovakiaExtra room charges for room service (this should be included in room charges one time if need be or a free service and should not be mentioned verbally to guests on regular basis) A missed payment had occurred. This can happen, however once the guest has agreed to the charges, there's no need to contact 3 times in 24 hours. An email would be sufficient. A 5 start hotel would normally waive such inconviniences. Lost key. Upon leaving, the room key had been lost or misplaced which can happen. There's no need to ask traveller's for 5000 Ksh for a key that's copied at 50 to 100 Ksh. There should be enough backup keys available for such scenarios. At some point the owner was arguing with his staff over the fact that we wanted to take our leftover lunch to the room to finish it there. It was an uncomfortable and awkward moment. The beach is not for swimming and walking may require shoes. Overall, I think there's a problem when it comes to payments and management by owner,,, this is usually not experienced in 5 star hotels.
Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. They are polite and smile often which if nice. Food, Amazing view Cleanliness, Very beautiful place, rooms, pool
